AIRLINERS.NET CREW CUSTOMER SERVICE & SUPPORT
Hi everyone!
Don't know it this belongs here but I'll try. Feel free to move it if ever it's wrong.
I am looking for some Airplane model to put up in my room, to go next to my cool LH B747-400 on 1/100 scale (which makes it about 70cm long). I'm looking for nice ones, not to expensive, of that same scale. Do you have any good ideas where I can find them?
The one that are sold on a.net sponsons site are really expensive, and for my 747, I didn't pay so much...
Cheers! and thanks!

I buy everything from 1:100 scale, 1:200 scale and mainly now 1:400 scale from various sellers on Ebay who I have built up a very good history with. I would definately recommend checking out ebay before you go elsewhere.
Just did a search for '777 1:100' on ebay.co.uk and Im seeing international sellers selling 777-200s at $69.00.
Hint: 1:400 are easier to display when you have 30 or 40 models
On the same vein, anyone know of a 1:400 scale Boeing Sonic Cruiser? I cant find one anywhere, and the only person I know who does custom models wont do anything at such a small scale. Id be willing to pay as much as $60 for a 1:400 sonic cruiser.

I am looking for a 1:75 scale model of the TWA 717, but customized in the old twin stripe scheme. I would gladly pay up to $700, and have only seen it once. That and any old wooster models from CO and OA would be great as well.

If you are really willing to spend out on such a model, it might be worth looking into getting it custom made, as there are quite a few modellers out there that are willing to handmake oneoffs for $300 or less in 1:100 scale.

If you're in the neighborhood....there's a HUGE aviationshop in Aalsmeer, called "luchtvaarthobbyshop", about 5 kilometers from Amsterdam Schiphol. They have an enormous selection of models.

I did just buy a Swiss 330 1:200scale, which looks good. Let's see what comes out!
Quoting CitationJet (Reply 4): I know this is not what you are looking for, but if you want to see some fantastic models look at Bader models.
Wow!! Definitely cool models, but definitely out of my budget too thanks anyway!

I hope I'll be there one. In GVA there's a shop for plane models, but the prices are really crazy. They are good quality, (though not as good looking as CitationJet's Bader models in my opinion) but for a 747-400 1:100 it is about 800 swiss francs, which makes it over 550$!

Question for ya, Pipo. Are you looking for the "ready-made" models where all you do is stick on the wings and tail? Or are you looking for the plastic models where you paint, assemble, and decal?

Damn! I already spend a couple of hundred Francs there every year and now you tell me there's another one! There's also a biggish toy shop in the main street south of the river which has a tempting display of 1:200 Herpa Wings, etc., on the top floor.

Actually, the ready made, yes. I'm not good enough with my hands to start building them myself !

Well it's definitely not the same one. The one I'm saying is situated in the airport itself. All I know is that it's situated outside the terminal, going to the right side if you're "facing" the apron. From there, you get in the railway station shopping center, and there, on the left side, there's a shop. All I know is that there's a few plane in a glass displayer outside, never went in though! I don't know what else they sell...
I'd say number 28 on this image. Unfortunately, the GVA webpage has each and every number on that image... EXCEPT the one I'm looging for... ****ing Murphy's law! Check it out next time you come to see if it's not the same we're talking about.
And for the other shops in Geneva, sorry, but I'm nor from there, but from Lausanne. I know very little about GVA city!

If you aren't too concerned about a plastic snap-fit model as opposed to an executive model (which can be 5x more expensive and then some), this is a good site:
They've got tons of plastic models that are easy to assemble.... pretty much, fuselage, wings, tail/flaps and a stand. There's a bunch of different airlines to choose from and several different planes for each one.

Enough, already! One shop to spend lots of money in was bad enough, now there are two - no more! Thanks for the info - I'll have to try it.
My brother's been living in Switzerland for about 15 years, initially in Berne but in Geneva for about nine years, so I've been going over there once or twice a year ever since and I'm always in Lausanne at some point during the trips.
next time you lanf in GVA, you can have a look. It's 4 min walk from the arrival exit. But I'm supposing that cause I saw that shop in march durin the Motor Show , so hope it's still there Cheers, Philippe
