I've had FS2004 for a while now (and love it!), and I have a few add-ons for it... Abacus' A380, WWII Carrier Ops and Chopper Havoc, and also Just Flight's Traffic 2004. Now I don't exactly have a ton of money to just go get any computer game/sim/add-on that I want when I want, so I needed some advice. Is Microsoft coming out with FS2006? If so, when should I expect some good add-ons (like Traffic 2004 that gives me a ton of different airlines/planes)? Or should I get Traffic 2005 when it comes out in August, and install it in place of T04? I was also considering getting Abacus' FS Repaint tool, even though it crashed on me previously and deleted my HP plane which I was nearly done completing, which in turn caused me to get pissed and throw it out. Just wondering. What are your suggestions?

FS2006 will come but we'll have to wait until 2007 for the release.
So it would be a good choice to continue improving your FS2k4.
In my opinion T05 wouldn't be necessary since there should be no changes versus the 2004 version. I would recommend some more addons like the PMDG 737 or the Level D 767. If you're more into smaller planes the AFG or Flight 1 Pilatus PC-12 might be a good choice as well.

What's a good site to go look at these add ons? The only stuff I've seen is stuff like the Just Flight or Abacus website. And all they have in the stores where I live are the Abacus add-ons...

Thanks Gofly. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Here's a question again.... Where can I find an add-on WITH a large variety of real-world airlines, where the liveries are realistic (with somewhat sharp resolution) and the flight decks are airliner-unique? With Traffic '04 I get a ton of airlines, but all I have is a 737 flightdeck when I use one of their planes. That sucks when I'm trying to fly a 747, or when I try and use an MD 11 and I can shut down two of the engines, but the tail engine keeps running.

That is a difficult one, as far as I'm aware, there isn't any. There are a few aircraft packages, but usually the freeware models are better.
If you tell me the aircraft you want, I'll give you some links to the best (IMHO) models/panels/sounds. That way you can get what you want, and for free.

Anything and everything as far as airliners go.
737
747
757
767
777
(wishfull thinking-787)
Great range of freeware planes there. And there are some 787 downloads there beleive it or not.
For the 737 search for Kittyhawk's 737-800 models , they're very good.
For the 747 , get projectopensky's(POSKY) models available on avsim and www.projectopensky.com. Very good model
For ther 757 , I would also recommend Projectopensky's(POSKY) model on avsim and their site. Again , very high quality model from them.
For the 767 , either iFDG (www.ifdg.net) or on avsim...You could also download Projectopensky's 767 version 4.
For the 777 , I'd recommend MelJet's version. Superb model.
A310 I wouldnt know
For the whole A318/A319/A320/A321 family , go to www.ifdg.net . The best A32X models on the web.
FOr the A330 and A340 try projectopensky's model , superb quality. Also can be found on avsim.
ATR42/72 only a good payware version , Flight1.
ERJ - Dreamwings freeware , search on avsim.
CRJ - Try Projectopensky's model , again very good.
MD-80 and DC-9 , get SGA's model. You can get excellent sounds along with them. Check for their downloads on avsim.
DC-10 , no real good models but SGA/FFX's one is OK.
MD-11 , superb models from ifdf , just do a search on avsim for the MD-11 and you should get good results.
I also recommend Erick Cantu's amazing 727. Just search "Vistaliners" in the avsim search.
Sound packages and panels can be found for these aircrafts in the sound section and panel section on avsim in the search. Alot of textures and repaints can also be found.
These are the best freeware aircraft I can suggest.

I have another question... Looking at www.justflight.com I found a couple add ons and I was wondering what your opinions were on them.
World Airports 2
737 Next Generation (I know there's another add on somewhere that goes with this one.)
Airliner Pilot
Any thoughts on what these are like? Thanks
Oh, and I've got to add... where is the best repainting tool I could find that would not crash on me and delete my work? I'm looking for cd-rom based products, since I can't download anything (no internet at home).
Is this the PMDG 737-800/900? If so, it's an add-on for the 737-600/700. You need to have the 600/700 before you can add the 800-900, which has some improvements as well as the two new types.

I've seen both, and I've known that the 600/700 was required if you're going to get the 800/900. I was just hoping to find someone that's used those to tell me what they were like. Will the different airlines included also be included in the FS if I allready have Traffic 2004 installed? I saw some screenshots of the 600/700 and 800/900 and I was impressed with those at least. And what exactly was World Airports 2 like? I've heard of some of the features, but they do only apply to a small handful of airports, and I'm also not sure how it would interract with my T04... Since the exit doors don't open on my aircraft, neither do any cargo bays.

It should work well with T04, as full AFCADS should be included in the scenery.

Thanks.. another question though... do you know much about Ultimate Traffic? I was looking at it, and while it looked interesting, how does it compare v. T04? And of the 3, which one looks best-- T04, T05 (when it comes out) or UT?

I just thought of another question...
With Airliner Pilot... can I fly for ANY particular airline (like if I wanted HP, WN or F9) or is it just relegated to only a small handful?

I can't really help you with UT, as I have T04 like you. However, in T04 the traffic is instant, whereas in UT you have to compile your own schedules.
I'm sure somebody who uses UT will be able to help you a bit more!

So I could create my own schedules... instead of allready having them? That actually sounds interesting. I have tried to add/delete flights with T04 but I never really see the end result of that, since just because in T04 there may be a schedule like this:
HP A320 Flt. #304 FL=320 Dep PHX 0850 Arr LAS 0950
doesn't mean that if I'm sitting there at PHX waiting to see this flight take off at its listed time (or at least start to taxi) that it will happen. It just seems to me that T04 traffic just goes on a random timetable. I wonder, will T05 have the capability of letting you add flights from point a to point b where YOU can decide frequency/times? Because you can't really specify day/time for each flight. Depending on what you listed as your desired turnaround time is what the tool gives you as far as # of flights and what times they depart. Like if I want 3 flights, SEA-PHX every day, one leaving at 0810, one at 1300, and one at 1900, it doesn't work that way... it'll give me some oddball times where the last flight doesn't arrive in PHX until 0310 the next day.

They're superb! Best virtual cockpit I think I've ever used (on the 800/900, anyway), loads of working switches, buttons and levers. There have been a few Tech/Ops discussions recently about starting an aircraft up from cold and dark and about shutting it down - I don't think any of the steps are missing from the PMDG experience. You can use ctrl-e, of course! You might also want to check out FS2Crew - a virtual copilot for the PMDG 737, which is a pretty neat idea.
Quoting Greyhound (Reply 18): Will the different airlines included also be included in the FS if I allready have Traffic 2004 installed?
If you mean, can the PMDG airlines be applied to AI aircraft, then I can't help as I haven't got involved with AI. I just let FS Traffic do its thing.
