Help! Southern Europe Default Scenery For FS2004

I've been trying to solve this one for a while now...

For some reason many of the airports that come as standard in FS2004 are no longer appearing. When I go to the airport all the facility data is there i.e. what you alter in AFCAD but none of the buildings, runways, taxiways or aprons appear, not even taxiway/runway signs. The AI aircraft appear in what would be the correct positions.

I've been told it might be to do with addon scenery that over-wrote some of the stock files (...sceneryeurwscenery) but I'm not sure that's the case because I have restored all the original files in that folder from the FS CD.

I'm completely stumped, what can I do???

Hi,

Ok, i can really only give you 2 pieces of advice.

1. Start FS, then go to 'Settings'

2. Click on 'Display' and then on the the first panel make sure your settings look like this:

The other option:

1. Start FS, then go to 'Settings'

2. Now click on 'Scenery Library' and look down the list until you see 'Western Europe' and then click on that name.

3. Now click on 'Move Up' and keep clicking until it is BELOW any other EU scenery (Other than the one you are trying to overwrite)

4. Now look for 'Eastern Europe' and click on that name.

5. And again, click on 'Move Up' until it is BELOW 'Western Europe'.

That should be it. Please tell me if it works.

If not, tell me your computer specs and i'll try to help you more.

I had a similar problem with some UK scenery and the only way i sorted that was Re-Installing FS2004. But, if you do that copy your aircraft, gauges and effects folders from the FS folder and then delete the whole FS9 folder.

I'm really short of time at the moment so hopefully within the next couple of days I'll be able to reinstall FS. I think you're right, it's the only option I have left!

It is a shame, but remember to save all downloaded aircraft and the gauges folder.

Haven't had time to do the reinstall yet, maybe tomorrow as it's saturday.

This thread may be long dead by now but it might be of some use to people out there. The problem was addon scenery for Dubrovnik (LDDU) that contained an old form of exclude file with an error in it that wiped out most of my southern European airfields.

I downloaded a patch for the scenery and all's fine now.
