I was just flying on my simulator and I was at BWI and I heard the ATC clear Airtran 490 to Washington Dulles ( IAD ) I was wondering why would they be flying such a short route?

My favorite is that FS9 regularly clears a Cessna Skyhawk from MGW to Fresno. That's one hell of a run for a Skyhawk, all these RJ operators should trade their CRJ's for Skyhawks.

I downloaded the flight tracking program from airnav systems for flight simulator. and it is real time flight tracking. And I looked it up on Galileo flight tracking and the flight did exist.

Leon,
According to FlightTraker, AirTran Flight 490 Originated in Dayton, OH, flying to BWI, but was diverted to IAD.
The recovery leg was IAD to BWI, a flight of just 20 minutes.
So, there you have it. It was a repositioning flight.
Hope that helps.
Russ
My glass is neither 1/2 empty nor 1/2 full, rather, the glass itself is twice as big as it should be.

I always love the World Travel 3:00 AM flight from Jose Marti Havana to Atlantic City or Yuma-ANC, very odd indeed

I also enjoy American Pacific's flight 608
Bogota - Tulsa.. departs at 8:00 am every morning on their 777.
If you really want to do it, you will find a way; if you don't, you'll make excuses.

I've heard of this program, but I do not have an understanding of how this system works (in correlation to FS2004). Do you have a link for this program?
