Do any of you guys/gals collect Inflight 200 models 1/200th scale diecast airliners? I have a couple of the 747s and 707s and I must admit that these models are really sharp. I also collect some Gemini and Dragon 1/400s, but I have become really drawn to the realism of scale of the 1/200s. The 707s are particularly handsome, as the engine nacelles and fuselage detail are very precise.
You'll see some on eBay occasionally for a slight discount off of normal retail, but for the most part, these models really hold their value as only about 200 per release are produced by the folks at Inflight. In fact, a rare Pan Am "billboard" 747-100, which originally retailed for $200 was sold on eBay for $375 not too long ago - so some will significantly appreciate.
Not to overlook Gemini, they have a 1/250th scale that have retractable landing gears - a la AeroMini of the 1970s. Both the Inflights and Gemini 250s have rolling rubber tires, which further add to their appeal.
Just curious what y'all like to collect!
BTW, in case you're wondering, the Inflight 747s weigh in at about 3 pounds each! The fuselage is solid metal, as are the wings and stabilizers. The model will sit solidly (no pun intended) on your desktop. The 707 is much lighter at less than one pound.

No Inflight 200 or Gemini 250 collectors out there?

I've seen Inflight 200 models--mostly at places like Collectors' Aircraft Models at Sheraton Skyline Heathrow, and at LHR & LGW aviation enthusiast fairs. They're a bit expensive though for many collectors.
I would love to have one, but I'm not about to shell out £129 for one! However, I do wish that they would make these two 747s in 1/200 scale:
--Aer Lingus 747 (both 1970s and 1980s liveries)--because it's my favourite livery on my favourite plane!
--TWA 747-131 in the twin red stripes livery--because that is the only 747 I ever had the opportunity to fly on.

I collect 1:200 models and have several Inflight200 models. Besides the limited line of Herpa Premium and Modell Edition planes, IF200 models are my favorite in this scale. I'm looking forward to the upcoming 744, DC-10, and 727 releases from Inflight200. The 727s are supposed to cost around 60 U.S. dollars, so that will be nice.

Quoting Pl4nekr4zy (Reply 3): I'm looking forward to the upcoming 744, DC-10, and 727 releases from Inflight200.
As a matter of fact, they will be introducing their Boeing 747-100 in the corporate "rollout" color scheme of 1969. It will be a beautiful rendition, and I am definitely signed up for a couple of those - one for display and another for long-term 'investment'. Attached below you'll see the actual sample of that release. They've even got all the airline logos done accurately!
Nice to hear that you are also an Inflight 200 fanatic. I think the word is just getting out about these models. Most are familiar with Gemini, Herpa and Dragon, but there are so many manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon it really is hard to keep up with them all!

The "rollout" 747 should be nice indeed, a piece of aviation history for sure. The United 744 should be really nice also.
The Inflight200 line is deffinately a welcome addition to the world of 1:200 models. It's gonna be awesome once they've expanded their range in the coming years to include even more a/c types.
Gorbidog, do you have any models from the wider InflightLE (Limited Edition) range? Personally, they're a bit too much money for me, but I hear good things about them. One reason why I'm really glad about the expanding IF200 range is because they are much cheaper than the LEs, and soon types like the DC-10 and 727 will be available as IF200 releases.
BTW Gorbidog, are you a member at diecastaircraft.com?

Yes I am as a matter of fact ... I'll let you try and guess who I am ... I've been rather active lately in the "Model Trader" section. (also on eBay too)

Nope ... not yet at least! I'm just getting started with these models and haven't had a chance to figure out what I really can afford most of all. One 747 will set you back about $200, so you really have to prioritize what you have to have.
The Boeing "rollout" 747 is a work of art in model form. Can't pass that one up for darn sure!

Hmm. Well I hardly ever look at the Model Trader forum, 1:200 is pretty much where I hang out on DA.C. You ever post there?
Also, do you have any Herpa Premium or Modell Edition models? I'm sure you're familiar with them since most collectors consider them to be the finest 1:200 models around, myself included. I've got the KLM Premium 747 and an LH Modell Edition 727 (Mainz), both mint. Hands down the two best models I've ever owned. I just wish the Wings team at Herpa would get off their butts and start churning out more Premiums and new moulds.

Sure do! Quite often in fact ... especially in the Inflight threads! I'll give you a hint though ... I like Pan Am.
Quoting Pl4nekr4zy (Reply 7): Also, do you have any Herpa Premium or Modell Edition models?
Not yet ... I'm familiar with the Premiums ... like the Lufthansa and Air New Zealand 744s with sprung landing gear. Very impressive price tag! Not much of a selection to speak of though, as you have mentioned.

In that case, how ya doin, MarinerOne? I should've recognized your Pan Am 747 from picture from the thread over at DA.C. BTW, I've been meaning to comment on your comparison pictures of an IF200 747 cockpit windows with those of the real deal. Nicely done, and hopefully the guys at Inflight will make the needed changes.
I'll give you a hint about who I am at DA.C: I'm probably the youngest member you'll find lurking around the 1:200 forum.

I know who you are Mr. "777" from Houston ... we'll leave it at that ...
Check this model out ... I just got a pic from a friend in England who just bought this beautiful model ... it's out!
Don't the winglets look so "to scale" and accurate?

Hehe yep that's me!
Man I had no idea the UA 744 was already out! I need to hurry and order one before they are all sold out.
The winglets look nice indeed, nice and thin like they should be on a model this scale.
But the cockpit windows look a little too large and misshapen, like has been discussed on DA.C. Not too big of a deal, but I think having an accurate nose section and cockpit windows should be one of the more important aspects on models, since this area is the "face" of the aircraft, if you will. Nonetheless the model still looks great. Thanks for the pic!

Thanks for the update there ... very good info! I guess in that case I must get a PSA L-1011 when that one comes out ... and a Delta one too ... can't wait for those!
BTW, there is a BOAC 747-100 on eBay right now - I believe that model is completely sold out ... it looks sharp!!!
