Hi all,

Yesterday I started flying online with IVAO, which is great fun, but i have a problem. During my last flight I was disconnected and recieved an email stating the following...

--------------------------------------------------------

As notified by an IVAO Supervisor, your account has been
suspended as a result of your actions online.

Reason given: The user is sandbagging hours and each time he's killed.
First occurrence.

'Flew several hours but hasn''t totaled anything, due to being
auto-sandbagged, daily. Maybe someone from GB staff could get him aline.
Supension is meant as wakeup call since not the first occurence I
witness.'

You will not be able to log into the IVAO network.

The suspension was issued by a supervisor and is therefore
subject to a review by IVAO Headquarters to determine the
appropriate course of action.

If you have any comment to make, or are unsure why you have
received this suspension, please press reply in your mail
software to send your comments to hq@ivao.org

Please do not apply for a certificate whilst this matter is being
investigated. Members of your household should also contact IVAO
before applying for a certificate.

IVAO Hq will contact you as quickly as possible as we understand
the potential inconvenience of this suspension, which was deemed
necessary for the immediate security of the network.

IVAO Headquarters

--------------------------------------------------------------------

What have I done wrong?

And what the hell is sandbagging?

Any info would be great.

Thanks,
Chris  wave

How can you do something "wrong" in a hobby?

I often don't like IVAO's attitude towards it's customers...

I really have no idea what sandbaggig is.

Hey Chris,

Sandbagging means that you stayed at the Gate or Ramp with PAUSE for too long or something of the kind... So you will not be added to the log.

I found this:

http://www.ivao.org/admin/user_suspensions.asp

Check it out...
Best of luck.

Cheers

Thanks for that Lucca, I mailed IVAO headquarters back asking what the hell was going on. Apparently I am suspended until approx 2140 on friday evening!

But I am hoping for an overturn on the suspension!

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Oh and then I would tell them that the word sandbagging doesnt really make much sense to the average human. Anyway where have ya been Chris, haven't heard from you at all in the SS thread. Ttyl hopefully.

Yes, I came across a controller on my first day who didn't know the meaning of the term 'WILCO' - I almost pissed myself laughing!  rotfl

You're wrong very wrong...
If you dont like IVAO, good for you, just do not insult it.
If you fly in the US VATSIM is better, if you want to fly in Europe fly on IVAO.
But, A320eva, how crappy are planes at VATSIM?, how crappy is the registration on VATSIM?Can you hide SB3 on VATSIM? On IVAO you CAN hide IVAP.
Planes on the ground on VATSIM just float around with no gear most of the time, you also see planes with the gear down at FL350...

Thats why they have FRAs, Facility Rating Assignments. This means you wont find newbies at big airports.

Thats a bit mean isnt it?
They also have a bunch of manuals. They cannot control people not knowing what to do.

For the record, I have 44 ATC hours and 84 pilot hours on IVAO.

How is that being mean?? Any controller worldwide should be familiar with the term "WILCO" - If they don't then they shouldn't be doing what they are doing in the first place!

For those who are wondering, WILCO means 'Will Comply With Your Last Instruction/Order' or something along those lines.  Wink

Chris,
Seems a bit harsh to suspend you straight off. Especially for something you didn't even know you were doing! Any joy with your appeal?

No. - I had an email back from them and they put a set of as they so blatantly highlighted "simple" questions to me and i had to answer them and send them back in an email. - I found this blatantly rude and an insult to my intelligence.

I emailed them back with a few choice words (which cannot be repeated here!) and told them to basically stick their questions where the sun doesn't shine! - Then I uninstalled IVAO!

I can see what SWISSER and A3204eva mean now about them!

Like requiring pilots to request permission to declare an inflight emergency when filing their flightplans?  Smile

Vatsim can be nice, but it too has its share of extremely rude controllers who seem to think that pilots are there only to be bossed around and abused.

LOL! If u have an emg, u declare it.. U don't have to ask  Smile (Trust me, I've tried FSPax on vatsim and I get a few emgs when controlling [obviously not everytime])

On the subject of rude controllers, the controllers will only have a go at u and think you're stupid if u have no idea what they're telling u and if you're not following the instructions  Smile

Yeah, IVAO wasn't big enough for me and you, so as you do such a wonderful job at being the afore-mentioned 'idiot', I thought I'd let you continue to reign supreme.

Check the official procedures. Might not be the case for all areas, but for many you have to request permission to declare an emergency.

Quoting A3204eva (Reply 18):
On the subject of rude controllers, the controllers will only have a go at u and think you're stupid if u have no idea what they're telling u and if you're not following the instructions

uh. I've had controllers shout at me for no reason. Been chewed for for selecting the wrong STAR, despite the official Jep charts I have telling me it's the right one.
Been chewed out for not requesting takeoff clearance from a controller who wasn't even online when I started my roll (I always check...).
Been chewed out for not having IFR charts on board and not knowing the position of a waypoint when flying VFR in a 1930s aircraft.
Etc. etc.
With over 600 of hours flying on vatsim and thousands more offline I probably know a bit more than the average controller, not that I usually let it show (I appreciate what they do more than they seem to often appreciate us pilots).
