I tried the free trial version of AirNav Live Flight Tracker 6. It seemed nice I just didn't want to pay that much for it. Also, I don't feel it supported European destinations, since you are from England it may be of little help to you.

Other than that it is a great program for the US (or so it seemed since im quite novice at this stuff). If there are others that are cheaper or even free and support Europe I would love to know!

I don't know about Europe, but for the US you can't beat Flightaware.

There is no European tracker. Some of the US ones show some traffic to/from Europe and www.flytecomm.com covers flights of many major operators ito/from the UK and Ireland but is not truly live.
