FS Nosewheel Locked?

Hi everyone. I tried to do a flight in FS9 tonight with the default 734. I pushed back successfully and everything, and get ready to taxi, when suddenly the nosewheel won't turn either direction and it is impossible to maneuver the aircraft. Why is this? I have a new joystick but have recently steered the nosewheel with it just fine, so why won't it do it now? My arrow keys won't turn the aircraft either, which they usually do. I don't have a full number pad since I use a laptop, so be advised of that. I think it may have been some CTRL command, since when I tried CTRL-E to start up it didn't happen at first, since I miskeyed it, and maybe this locked the nosewheel. But I hit various nearby commands in an effort to unlock it to no avail. There didn't seem to be a command in the lengthly key command list either. Please help.

Hopefully if I try tomorrow it will work, but I'm too crabby now to try it tonight - but what was the cause?

Try to use the rudder instead of the ailerons. I now operate the "wheel tiller" only through the rudder, and perhaps you did it with the ailerons previously. Try to use the rudder commands of your stick as the wheel tiller.

Hi Alex,
My suggestion would be to go into the "properties" of your joystick and calibrate it again. There is a whole series of calibration movements to get your joystick set up correctly.
Like LTU932 said above, while on the ground, your "rudder" is also your nose gear steering.
On my joystick, a MS Sidewinder Pro, I have to "twists" the stick itself, to operate the rudder in the air, and the nose wheel on the ground. Side to side movement is your ailerons. Side to side does nothing while the aircraft is on the ground.

Unless there is some other setting I don't know about, a joystick recalibration will probably do the trick.

Shift-T is the default nosewhell lock button, try that to unlock it and if that doesnt work go into the joystick calibrate area (cant remember the names of the areas to get there sorry)

Nope, that must have been reassigned because when i reinstalled my FS on my new system i went to change all the assignments and found out that Shift-T is originally the tail hook lock/unlock button

Oh, ok. So that is on "taildraggers" only?

This is most likely a joystick problem. Try deleting the rudder assignment and assigning it again.

The next flight I attempted had the nosewheel problem. So, I take it that if autorudder is off, the arrow keys and joystick must switch to control the rudder. With autorudder on, the arrow keys and joystick control the nosewheel. Ailerons are controlled by both in either situation. I knew it wasn't a joystick problem since the arrow keys weren't doing the job either.

Well, I have never had that problem.
With the auto rudder in the on or off position, I can still use my joystick to steer the nosewheel while on the ground. The only difference is that with auto rudder turned on, I have no independent rudder control while in the air.
