Quoting Jamesbuk (Reply 4): I've read notes on the 737PIc and its takes up 2 gig i believe but for that im guessing the textures are top quality and all systems modeled
The quality of the exterior model is debatable, however the 2D panel and VC are brilliant!

The exterior model of the PIC 737 is indeed rather crap, and the systems are complex, so unless you know what you're doing and/or are willing to learn about the various systems modelled I wouldn't buy it.
Feelthere have a very useless AIRAC which has very little in it (unless they've sorted themselves out recently?). Last time I flew EGCC-EGKK it only recognised a few waypoints, no SIDs/STARs or even airways. It has been a while since I've used it though.
I must say I do like the overhead with the many features modelled.
Personally, It doesn't hit the frames at all. I have all settings on high too. Might just be me though.

Found that out the hard way...
Bought it and gave up after hours of figuring out how to start the engines...

If you want to get a better 737, get the Fiftynorth 737 from Flight1.com. It doesn't have a VC or panel for the moment (there's a good freeware panel at pspanels.co.uk for it), much less a fully functional FMC, but it costs only $14.95 and has a very close to accurate visual model.

I have the Fifty North model merged with the the FT panel, you lose the great VC, but I've solved the model problem!

The AIRAC is updated each month, and with the new AIRAC my Waypoints/Airways problems seem to have been sorted. With regards to the SIDs and STARs procedures, Simon Butler is working very hard to bring us the UK procedures. All his completed work can be seen on this page: http://fliteprep.de/erj145/

I agree with you there fully, the 737 is great with FPS!

hey,
I have purchased the Pilot in Command 737 a good while ago, and I still love it!
Remembering of course, that this add on was made with the intention of realistically simulating flight performance, dynamics, and the navigational aids (there is where the FMC takes part). If I were you I would devote my time, and learn how to operate the FMC. This will surely bring your simulation to the full...

OK
Right. It is an amazing add on. The planes are amazingly detailed. Virtual cockpit and nice virtual cabin (correct colours for BA lol)
I can fly it very well, land perfectly, its just the Autopilot and setting up the FMC that confuse the hell out of me.
Other than the FMC, it is an amazing product, woth buying if ur into the technical side, but im more of a get it and fly kinda guy lol.

I am a get it and fly kinda guy. I have to be honest, all I want is to be able to start the engines, taxi, take off correctly and then set it on autopilot but use the GPS system to navigate rather than faff with an FMC that does everything for you. I still want to be hands on. I want to control my speed and heading through autopilot. Then I want to land , shutdown engines and prepare for the next flight.
I suppose what my big question is: Is a GPS system available on this add-on? Is it available on the other titles Ive mentioned?
Tom
I would love to learn how to fly an airliner as realistically as possible on FS but it takes too long and there is no tutorial that shows me excactly how to do everything an airline pilot would.
Dude believe me you can still control all the speeds headings everything, you dont even have to fly with the FMC you can just hit in the heading alt and speed and go, or you can quickly type in, your current location, destination then go onto legs and type in were you wanna go and then you just hit Control E to turn on the engines or do it maunally (the fun way!)

Hmm all the add-on pro stuff ive bought have always come with a checkride in the manual which guides you through a certain route and teaches you the basics. you will not get even remotely close to flying like an airline pilot with crappy gps.
I would definitely recommend the Level D 767 to get started, its brill and frame rate friendly and an easy craft to fly!!

P.s. Once you go pro you never turn back
You cant have your cake and eat it... What the hells the point in having it then!!!
