I just got an e-mail today from flightsim.com:
Quote: Two versions of Microsoft FSX will be released. There will be a Standard Version and a Deluxe Version. The difference? The Deluxe version contains the new Garmin G1000 in three cockpits, additional aircraft in the fleet, Tower Control capability and an SDK pack for development.
So you can be ATC?
Quote: Both versions will also enjoy an updated sound package with 5.1 capabilities. One of these capabilities is the option of using a headset and speaker system at the same time. This would enable the sound of the engine and wind to be broadcasted through your speaker system, while controlling all radio operations through a headset separately.
That sounds cool.
Looks like this FS version will be alot better. Look at the screenshots on that page. I sounds like this FS will rule! Though the big question is how much cash will be spent on my new computer when it comes out.

oh sweet. i have been waiting for this feature for a long time, especially with VATSIM. It's so annoying how when I fly VATSIM I have to have the volume of my engines so low so I can hear the controllers. But if you turn the voice up too high on the voice volume in squawkbox sometimes somebody sounds like they are screaming into the mic and makes me deaf for a half hour.
honestly, i can't wait for FSX. i was sold on it when i saw that video where they slew up and up and up so you are at what looks to be like 100,000 feet or more. you could see the blue atmosphere hugging the earth. the scenery looked so much more realistic too. ohh i can't WAIT!!!!

jetmatt,
i enjoyed the video on that link you provided
I paid AUD$100 for my FS2004, it says the Deluxe is AUD$93 + however much money they want to charge me for postage. Justflight charged USD$7 for postage over here, so expect from Florida to be about 4-6. About $10 extra, I'm sure its worth more than $3 over FS2004.
I'm so excited, I'm trying to convince mum to get it for me, or I'll pay for it myself. The only real problem, is what I will need to run it to a certain degree.

Quoting Ryan h (Reply 9): It is a shame that many of the historic aircraft from 2004 are being taken out
They can easily be copied from the FS2004 discs
I can agree that it would have been nice for new customers to have the historic planes too, but planes like Wright flyer filled it's place in A Century Of Flight, but it's not a plane I've spent a lot of hours in.

That sounds about right. I seem to remember it was about GBP 60-70.

Yes, I gave the Vimy transatlantic flight a go but after four hours with no autopilot and just a compass for navigation I gave up. Four hours was enough to tell me what an achievment it was, though!
At least there shouldn't be any difficulty getting hold of a copy since so many current simmers seem to think it's going to be cr@p.

Haha and I should try to convince my dad to get it for me, although he knows what happens if I get it. I will be gaming FSX 24/7

I didn't see the video until you pointed it out. Yep, Multiplayer will be pretty cool this time for VA's where FO's can actually be FO's.
I'm getting deluxe version, just have to convience my Dad it will be a good buy. Since my b-day is in Sep. I should have enough B-day cash to get it! yayers.

I hope OKC has highly detailed airport, out of 1200 airports, I hope so.

I hope there is at least one detailed airport in every country like Vantaa Finland, Kastrup Denmark, Arlanda Sweden and Gardermoen Norway here in Scandinavia as a minimum. The world is larger than the US to everyone outside the MS office

the same pessimistic rhetoric was floating around for FS2004 as well. Humans are so predictable sometimes.

If it doesn't have every conceivable feature it's "rubbish".
I'd be interested to know how many current users upgraded from a previous version. I just don't believe people who upgrade constitute a small enough portion of the market for MS to ignore them and concentrate solely on new users. Everyone I know with FS2004 had FS2002 or FS98. OK, that's only five people but if the opinions of some are to be believed, I'd expect at least one of them not to have had a previous version.
In my opinion, although MS may have added some features to attract new users, they've attempted to make general improvements to the product which should appeal to current users, too. Perhaps they just thought improved ATC was too much effort.

I had the original SubLogic version on the Amiga but I joined the PC series at 98. I've had every version since then and I'm looking forward to FSX. I'll need a hrdware upgrade but that's overdue anyway.

If there are 1200 airports that are supposed to be highly detailed, will that slow sales of payware sceneries?
Quoting David L (Reply 22):
Ditto but, thanks to PSS and PMDG, I get so much more out of it than I used to with a few circuits in the Cessna 170 every now and then.
Can't fly either, but PMDG and LDS definately helped me getting much more out of FS though. I refuse to fly airliners without an FMC now
25 Pilot3033: Not likly, the FS airport will never compare to what payware will have to offer. It will just open doors payway has yet to see, which in the long run
26 PJFlysFast: I already pre ordered my copy of the deluxe edition on flightsim.com! I hope they have more detailed cockpits though! I want an Overhead and if possib
27 FlyMIA: Yea looks great and I have gotten the newest version every time but first I have a good computer but its was made in 2003 it runs FS9 fine but I will
28 QFA380: I completely forgot about my own birthday !!! Thanks as well AirPacific744 Mums abit optimistic about me getting it too. She knows I will be using he

30 Ytib: Based on Microsoft comments, do not expect any great updates in aircraft. They know the 3rd party companies do a better job, and for FSX they are work
31 Boeingguy1: I never understood why people always want "Default planes" when we have such examples like posky AND ifdg... theres really no point for MS to develop
32 Dan2002: Dont bet on it. I've heard nothing of the sort, and would be very strange for them to release payware with a commercial release like that.
33 David L: I agree. Doesn't seem very likely. And that's a major improvement, in my book.
34 QR332: I just might get back into Flight Sim once this is released... looks great!
35 Evan767: Can we expect anymore commercial aircraft outta this FS?
36 Jetmatt777: Looks lime the A321 will be icluded as default. -matt
37 CPH-R: I really hope that the SDK will not be required for updating ones AI traffic etc. On the other hand it looks like they've done some pretty cool stuff
