Just flew Melbourne to Singapore in the LDS 767 - 300 with clouds and water supplied by Flight Environment and Scenery supplied by the Australian Company VOZ . A truly wonderful experience particularly with the added bonus of the wing views that "jonboy" has provided on this forum.
Now all I need to make it complete is knowing what the active is at Singapore before I get there. I had 20L in the box but everything on the TCAS as I passed below 6000 ft seemed to be using 20R and it was too late to change by the time I got within range to notice such things. Is there any way I can get the Destination ATIS before hand so as to avoid meeting departing traffic while I am on short finals and making a complete ass of myself?

Program arrival atis into the radio 2 and then click on "both" so you can monitor both radio streams. I have found that arrival ATIS kicks in around the time I get a final approach clearance so the value is somewhat minimal depending on the airport.

ATIS in FS 2004 will always activate when you are 100nm away from the airports.
I usually enter the ATIS for my arrival airport in the COM2 and then keep ity activated until it starts working.

Thats wierd, i kno for a fact that SIN uses both runways for landings and takeoffs.. depending on you gate position, so yo could of landed on 20L or 20R
BTW RWY 20R is now 20C and RWY 02L is now 02C because of the third runway being build for the new terminal. wich is now named 20R and 02L
Theres a SIN scenry fix on flightsim.com

Quoting ACDC8 (Reply 3): Mine doesn't activate until I get the call for my inital descent from ATC. Which of course depends on my cruising altitude.
Thats because you probably have the ATC frequency active.
What A/C are you using? if it isnt a good payware with milti radios, than dont always keep the ATC freq. on and put it on standby. Than it will work

I had this happen on the default aircraft or aircraft that I downloaded off avsim. Before I fly, I'll check all the radio/runway info of my destination airport, punch in the ATIS freq in my COMM2 and move it over from the stand-by position and activate the COMM2 and listen.

While this works as a general rule, the ATIS does not activate until you start getting your vectors to final. This can be as many as 120nm out, or as little as 60nm (I've had both). I just look up the weather to put into the FMC if I have one, and make an educated guess about the runway. I get it wrong about a quarter of the time.

I like to get the weather for my destination before i depart so i go to the great circle mapper web site and put in the dep and arr codes and get the ATIS,then i download the weather and fly away. You need the weather before you leave so you can an have alternate arrival airport if the weather for example is zero vis and there's no ILS.

Here it is jerry. www.kls2.com
then click on where it says great circle mapper enter the dep and arri codes it will show the route and give the distance in miles. If you then click on the arrival airport it will show you runway length and current weather.
It also states where the nearest airports are to your destination for a possible diversion, and i don't know why but it also states the furthest airports away from it.So if you want to know the furthest airport in the world from another airport it shows that.It also shows google's satellite image of the airports.
