I was listening to EMA tower a few weeks ago and it was on the night of Childern In Need (a national charity event if youve not heard of it) part of which was being held in the terminal. There was a DLH plane on finals. They must have been letting off fireworks or something because as the DHL pilot conteacted tower they said, "have you got the report of fireworks?" They DHL pilot replied with a chuckle in a very typical old RAF accent, "Yea the flak is going to get heavy!" I thougt that was pretty funny.

Also on EMA tower. After talking in a very proffesional way all mornign to commercial traffic, ATC came on and contacted one of they flying school GAs saying, "The flying school says they have found some car keys, could they be yours?" I just thought it was funny as it was so appart from the usual proffesional ATC speak.

Cheers

While spotting at ABQ, I once heard the pilot of (now defunct) Rio Grande Air and the tower controller call each other by their first names, after the Rio Grande flight checked in per standard.

A few months later at the same airport, the ground controller asked the pilot of (now defunct) Westwind Airlines flight if he preferred the Pilatus PC-12 over the Cessna Caravan he had previously flown for Rio Grande. The pilot responded that he enjoyed flying in the flight levels and that in comparison, the "Caravan was nothing but crap."

I do not know if the pilot and/or controller in the first example were the same ones involved in the second.

...and boom goes the dynamite!

Thats a good one, at TOL I recently heard the tower telling someone in the ILS pattern to stop making S-Turns in his approach. He pretty much ripped him on the air band.

1G0 has had some good ones on the "Falcon Unicom" before too.

Later though.

That was awesome.

Once I heard if the pilot can get an update on a football game. Oh, and once the ATC Controller was "raping" by accident, this happened maybe a year ago on a flight to AMS. LOL!!! I still remember the rap vividly.

CO89 about a year ago came over the P/A singing to apparently a boom box or something singing along to Eminem, and you hear the F/O say "STOP STOP YOUR ON THE P/A". The captain comes on a few moments later and appolgizes for the interuption.

I heard ATC at DTW give out updates to Detroit Tiger Playoff games this year. I was flying NW DTW-STL during game 5 of the World series this year and the captain gave us inning by inning updates. He must have been getting them from ATC.

I hear the Ford test track in Dearborn, Michigan, on the air band. They have a low and high speed track there. The test track did used to be an airport, prior to 1947. They did land (and take off) three Ford Tri-motors there during the 100 years of Ford celebration a few years ago.

I have heard dispatchers give out scores over ACARS, also.

Ive heard ATC at Heathrow asking for an update on how busy the motorway (M25) is as theyve been flying over it on short finals. Guess he was nearing home time!
