Range Of B738 In FSX

Why is it that the B738 in FSX is specified as being able to fly about 3100nm when in practice while cruising at .78M and FL370 or so it is impossible to fly that far? Does MS not know how to program accurate flight dynamics into FSX?

The A321 doesn't perform anywhere near it's actual range either. I've managed to get my PMDG 737NG working in FSX, and thankfully it's much more accurate than the MS aircraft....

Not sure if its like this in FSX but in FS9 if you go into the aircraft.cfg file you can expand the fuel tanks.
