As I said in an another thread, I'll be buying a new D camera.

What program [for the computer] do you recommend me the most for editing, etc., etc., etc. [for all the things you have to do before uploading]?

Thanks to all.

Adobe Photoshop, although exspensive, it's one of the best out there!

I have used both Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 2.0. Both have everything needed to do your post processing. Given that Elements is a fraction of the cost, it is the easy choice.

Elements latest version is 3. I assume that it is also a fine program to edit photos with.

Just want to add to SmAlbany's post;

Elements is a great little program for beginners to learn the basics about photo editing, it usually comes with the camera aswell (defiantly with Canon cameras, not so sure about Nikons)

But.....after A while elements does get limited, there's only a certain amount of things you can do with the program.

It is a good program and quite in-expensive too. It can handle raw images for when you want to shoot raw. Still the best is CS, hope to get that later on in the year.
If you're buying a new D camera, depending on which one, you will get software with it and if its a Canon you will get Elements 2.0. I'm not sure what software comes with the Nikons.

Take care

You can always look at the Jacs Paint Shop Pro range, I've heard mixed reviews about it. But in my opinion, nothing can beat Adobe and its photoshop range!

I have acdc V3 installed on my pc. It's basically just a picture viewer with a few basic editing functions added as a bonus:

If like me, you were struggling to edit on a budget of practically nothing the price of such programs is a problem. I've now purchased Photoshop Elements 3.0, but before that I had to use a mix of programs for different functions which was very inconvenient but it was free. One of the ones I used was a file viewer called XnView which has a few extra capabilities. As it is freeware, you could have a look here and see what you think.

Best regards,

Jim

I second that. I started with Photoshop Elements, but invested into Photoshop CS shortly after it was realeased.

I can tell you, worth every single cent if you know how to handle it!

It's worth checking on eBay for editing software. You may be able to get a "working"  innocent  version of one of the above packages for a fraction of the shop price.

Note also that Elements 3 requires Windows XP or Windows 2000 + SP4 as a minimum spec. Elements 2 is OK with older versions such as ME.

Id say for a beginner go for Elements V3! It will sort you out for most stuff. Most of the extra functions that are offered in the full version would never be used by myself for aviation!
