Topic: Some Investigation Please Username: Granite Posted 2005-10-22 14:42:23 and read 1705 times.Hi all
While scanning some prints this afternoon I came across some of my Hong Kong stuff. I tooks quite a few photographs inflight, including the two linked below. I've looked back some notes that I wrote inflight but cannot locate what this airport is. All I know is that they were taken between India and Bangladesh. Really rough scans but would be great if someone could help me locate. I've tried Google World but there is so much to look at there.
Any help?

As an incentive I will offer an A4 print of any of my images for the first person to identify

I just spent 15 minutes looking through Google Earth, all along India and Bangladesh, but couldn't make out the airport you photographed. But I'm sure someone will find it though.
Cheers,

Thanks. Tried that myself but didn't find anything either.
Looks like some small airport or maybe even military. Doesn't look like anything on the ramp. A big bridge connecting another piece of land so looks as if it is used quite a bit.
I'll keep looking too.

I too am following many waterways in this part of the world to see if I can help (I owe you a few favours ). There is no doubt that there is a lot of water in that part of the world!
Can you let me know what route you were flying. Have you tried it on the basis of looking for appropriate airways?
All the best.

As a start, which direction were you flying in? And what side of the plane were you sat on? The key to identifying it I think lies in the two rivers coming together and the bridges - very distinctive shapes!

Don't know about the name, but it is near Wuzhou in China.
Have a look on Google Earth and it is a perfect fit, you can even see the airstrip

I have been doing a bit more detective work, which has proved a pain since it's in China, but I'm fairly sure now the airport is Wuzhou-Changzhoudao WUZ/ZGWZ.
I started with the Great Circle Mapper and went on from there with Google Earth.
