Topic: How To Get Your Photos To Anet Database?

I haven't attempted to get any of my photos uploaded into the database yet, but is there any tricks to the trait?

I don't use any professional software to edit them, but I use a Canon 300D and a Konica Minolta Z5 to shoot.

Thanks!

No "tricks of the trade", just take a decent picture to start with, and compare it to what you see in the db already.

You will never get a photo on the database without editing software to adjust your colours, contrast and most importantly, sharpness.
I suggest getting yourself a copy of some decent photo editing software. Something basic will be enough for now. Photoshop is the program of choice but you can also get some other software from Corel. Early versions sell for around $100 on ebay.
Don't use Microsoft Paint.
Practise first. I'll repeat Jeff's statement by saying there are no shortcuts in getting a photo on the dbase. We all worked hard for months at a time before we got one on here.
A lot of trial and error and more than a few rejections will give you a first accepted photo.

If only to resize the photo.

Not all cameras come with a copy of Photoshop Elements. I would however recommend Elements as a base software package for editing photos. It is what I use and I have been mildly successful with my uploads.

If anyone can get a photo past the screeners onto this database WITHOUT post processing, ie. adjusting color casts, color saturation, contrast, etc...I'll chauffer them around sydney airport for a day in a rent-a-limo

Uploaded a bit more than a year ago, taken with a Canon 2 Mpixel Digital Ixus Camera Big grin No editing

But I got LOADS of rejections before getting them on the db, because I had no idea how to edit a picture... But you can learn so much things in just a few months, since I got my Canon 10D.

With a 300D I'm sure you can get some good pics!

Elements is a great starting point, that software does everything you could want for photographs. Get a good book on elements and photography basics and you'll find some real enjoyment, not just from uploading here.

A year ago, standards were a little more relaxed than they are now.

Photoshop Elements is really all you need to post process photos for acceptance on this site. By following the recommended workflows(i.e.Fergul's) , you should be able to get shots accepted with a little skill (and some luck  Wink )
The only thing that I miss not having with the free version of Photoshop Elements is the measure and shadow/highlight tools. However, this can be worked around by using the grid in place of the measure tool, and the dodge tool instead of shadow/highlight.

IMO investing in anything more than Photoshop Elements is a waste of money if your primary use is to post-process for submitting photos here. It has all the tools you need...
Good luck!

I did get a copy of it and I have another photo editing piece of software that I don't use. What am I looking for to edit? I think I take some pretty good pics without edit...

Here is one.

Loading at DFW, en route to NRT!

Sure need to see these pictures fullsize before we can tell if there's anything to do. Post them here and I'll see if I can help.

Best regards

Good morning mate...

But you didn't say anything about dates!  Big grin  Big grin

Philippe is a right winner but remind him the flight ticket is not included in the limo ride!

Cheers

Yes very good shots indeed, but any shots submitted here require some basic post-processing to meet anet standards. In terms of the two examples above, neither is going to be anet material due to quality issues. In the future be sure to post full-size (or bigger than 1024 wide) for accurate quality assesment and tips for improvement...as mentioned above. Your best bet for post-processing is Fergul's workflow. You can find a link to it on the upload page. It is specifically geared towards Photoshop.
Good luck!
