Those sunset shots are spectacular, but with the poor weather shots the quality just isn't there. Great shots; I knew there had to be at least one moon shot in there.  Wink

Mark,

All the sunset shots are great. Maybe the Swiss rubber. And yet another moon shot from the expert. The rest, a little soft or blurry.

All of them are, Mark.
For airliners... that's another case.

(virgin_sun) definitely has a chance,
A0AG3131B.jpg... maybe a bit too high in frame, but clone the dustspots  Smile
SwissRubber.jpg can be accepted in 1024 at least I'd say.
GARF2540.jpg - level those buildings, and please upload it! Might end up in Johans queue, but it's a lovely one!
The moon shot is worth a try too I'd say.

Now I do really feel weird, giving Mark Garfinkel advice on his photos  angel

Cheers Mark, was a pleasure to look through your shots.

Thanks my friends!...
I have a tough year on rejects and I really have not shot too much aviation in the last 18 months. I seem to like going out on cloudy , fog/rain and the quality of my photos is a bit soft Sad...
I have just traded my eos1D and got a Mark2 Eos1D N..
so I hope to have some stuff back up soon. BUT, WOW...There are SO many more great photogs here now than there were 18 months ago...

OK, here's my very subjective feedback:

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...anmg/?action=view¤t=Virgin_Sun.jpg
Quality is there. I'd crop a tad away on the right and the bottom, not too much though, still keeping the diagonal line formed by the clouds from the main gear to the bottom right corner, but just enough to focus more on both aircraft.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...panmg/?action=view¤t=DeltaSnow.jpg
Again, quality OK, for some sites it could need more sharoening on some areas of the aircraft. But, it seems as if you chopped off the wheels. Perhaps something personal: I wouldn't cut off the stab and leave that much dead space in front if the aircraft. Perhaps it looks more balanced, if you crop closer to the snowmover on the right?

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/Tappanmg/?action=view¤t=cape2.jpg
Interesting shot, but I have seen similar getting rejected. Would be interesting to compare with a shot, where the horizon is level instead of the aircraft, just to see, which one looks more "dramatic".

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...ppanmg/?action=view¤t=jetAAfog.jpg
Nice, but quality is probably not enough for A.net, don't know. I guess, it can't be sharpened up without loosing quality. Tough one ....

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...ppanmg/?action=view¤t=SwissFog.jpg
The "AAfog" gives more of the feeling of how it was a that day. Focusing more on the aircraft, the lack of quality seems to become more prominent. There's a lot of noise, which probably won't help in getting the pic accepted  Wink

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...nmg/?action=view¤t=SwissNewSun.jpg
Nice one! Sharp! Fantastic backdrop! Lovely, dynamic framing!

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...nmg/?action=view¤t=SwissNewSun.jpg
Nice idea, but quality under par IMHO, "thanks" to the noise

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...panmg/?action=view¤t=A0AG3131B.jpg
If I'd be pedantic, I'd say: a pitty, the stab has been chopped off  Wink Apart from that: great shot!! Sharp aircraft and nice motion blur! And on top of that, the clouds in the background seem to frame the aircfraft somehow. Definitely an eye-catcher!

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...ppanmg/?action=view¤t=757Foggy.jpg
Again, nice idea, but the noise and to some extent the blurriness could be a killer.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...mg/?action=view¤t=AirFrancefog.jpg
Quality is there, but could need a bit sharpening. also, I don't know, how the framing would be judged. In my eyes it seems too low in the frame, but that's probably again a personal thing.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...nmg/?action=view¤t=AmericanWet.jpg
In my opinion too blurry.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...nmg/?action=view¤t=SwissRubber.jpg
Very nice! As Spaniard I'd even say "¡¡Cojonudo!!" !  Wink Just to make it sure: I hope, the JPG compression is caused by photobucket or by the higher compression level you chose to upload there.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/Tappanmg/?action=view¤t=48.jpg
I'd say, that the noise and the contrast/backlight are a killer here.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...ppanmg/?action=view¤t=EAFD5799.jpg
Too blurry IMHO. If one of the aircraft would have been in focus and sharp, it would be a whole different story though.

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...ppanmg/?action=view¤t=GARF2540.jpg
Stunning shot there! Only a little bit unlevel IMO, but apart from that, another eye catcher!

http://photobucket.com/albums/y255/T...nmg/?action=view¤t=UnknownMoon.jpg
Very lovely shot! I'm still struggling to get a decent shot of the moon ..... let alone of an aircraft AND the moon in the same pic  Wink

The moon god cometh!

Nice shots, but it looks like the poor weather shots don't have the quality. Shame, because especially on that AA 757 I could never hold a pan that steady. Also looks like alot of Jpeg compression is visable on most of the shots.

Hey Kas,

How are you doing. Thanks for your comments. For your information, I'm planning my vacation to Holland somewhere in May. I will definately go aircraft spotting at Schiphol Airport Big grin How can I not do that.... I will let you know when I'm there.

And Mark,

Also thank you very much for your opinion. It appears you are famous and a well respect photographer here on airliners.net when looking at the posts here. Thank you for your opinion. It's nice to know the opinions and feedback from our fellow aircraft spotters here Big grin

On an overall note: I think the two photolinks that cannot be opened are currently being processed but I'm not sure. I also couldn't open them but they are still in my qeue. So I'll have to be more patient I guess Big grin

Regards,

Roger

The links on #2 and #4 are wrong somehow ("/b...g/" instead of "/big/" in the URL). Place your mouse on the link and look in the status bar, compare with #1 for example.

Anyway, #1 looks definitely good. Not much to add, perhaps a tad dark IMO, but this could also be the monitor on my office notebook.

#2 - correct URL (hope it works...  Wink ) :
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b...ready/5Y744FN412MCRCAMS200405B.jpg
Seems a tad backlit to me.

#3 seems too soft to me.

#4 - correct URL (hope it works...  Wink ) : http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b...g/ready/MPM11CFNEWRCAMS030705B.jpg
Seems definitely dark to me, as well as a little bit soft. And ... is it really level? Beeing screener on another site  Wink I have to say, that this spot at AMS is one of those spots, which can drive me crazy: photos sometimes "seem" unlevel, even if they aren't.  Wink

That all said, take it as a personal, perhaps pedantic opinion of a wannabe photographer, leave the photos in the queue and let the screeners do their job.

It is not often I reply to these type of posts - I can barely get my photos accepted, never mind advise on others. But I just wanted to say that I thought your collection was great. Lovely composition, beautiful atmosphere. Regardless of their acceptability to Airliners.net, I am glad you shared them. I hoe to see more of your work soon.

Heeet Gerardo,

Thanks for the tips. I have deleted the KL777 and MP MD11 photos as they might well be too soft/dark. I have uploaded a few other photos so maybe you can give me your opinion on them. This goes to everyone else as well. My most recent uploads:

Hey Tappan,

Lovely shots! I spot a lot up at BOS. I think I know where you took a lot of those pics from  Wink

Do you ever make it out to Yirrell Beach in Winthrop? Where did you take the pics of the arrivals on 22 with the skyline in the background? Was that the little beach off Rt 145?

Roger, here again my poor attempt at "photo review", as requested  Wink :
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/EZY319RCAMS140605A.jpg
Interesting crop, but could be deemed as not centered. What I like is, that it looks like attached to the frame ,-)

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/KZ744FRCAMS030705C.jpg
Not much wrong with it IMHO. The sub-optimal weather conditions of course are reflected in the lighting, but I don't see much problems.

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/BA321RCAMS140605A.jpg
I like the contrast, but it could be judged as too dark.

All in all, nice pics IMHO. I'd let them in the queue.

Cheers

TUNisia,
Thanks...
The 27 arrivals w/ skyline in background is Winthrop's Point Shirley..
The low quality fog photos were taken from the Madonna Shrine on the hill.
