It galls me to see people post photos as if they were their own.
You may need to instruct their removal.

Topic: RE: Plenty Of Stolen Photography Here Username: Eadster Posted 2007-11-02 16:53:39 and read 1822 times. They don't look stolen to me. They've mentioned "My favourites from Airliners.net.."
They've stated where they have come from, its just someone like us, who enjoys aircraft.
They've left the copyright bars on them too. I can't see that this is too much of a threat myself...

There are some awesome shots there and some people are giving him praise, even asking "how he did it?". Easy, he just screengrabbed from here. How cheap!
I usually give permission to fellow enthusiasts for their sites as long as I get a credit, but I would never give permission just for a photo-hosting site which is really designed for your own photos, although there is a lot of abuse of that on flickr. |

Ray.
As may see, he's not saying "they are mine" but "My favourites from Airliners.net!!!". Nobody can instruct their removal. They are simply not stolen pictures...

Maybe not, but they do violate the license agreement on Airliners.net. When people upload here it's because they want their photo's viewed here - not everyone wants their photo's showing up on any old site. But as far as copyright law goes, photographers can indeed instruct that their work not be duplicated or redistributed without their permission.
Some excerpts from the A.net usage policy:
You have limited rights to personally view the images with your web browser and to use them as your personal computer wallpaper (or background image) on your own computer. These photos may not otherwise be reproduced, distributed, cropped, resized, or otherwise altered without the written permission of the photographer.
You may not use these photos on any web page, commercial or non-commercial, for profit or non-profit, without written permission from the photographer. You may however link to the photos in the manner described below.
I don't see "copy the images and host them on your own website for public viewing without the photographer's permission" anywhere in the license...

The only option I see is to determine if they are stolen or not. And I think that such task belongs to DM.

It is:
Quote: Don’t upload anything that isn't yours.
This includes other people's photographs and/or stuff that you've collected from around the Internet. Accounts that consist primarily of such collections may be terminated at any time. |
