Topic: Few Questions About AMS =) Username: Pawsleykat Posted 2008-02-04 05:46:21 and read 2271 times.This coming Friday I am going to AMS for the day and I was wondering about a few things;
Now, all going according to plan I should be arriving in Amsterdam at 1240 on KL1008 from LHR (A330 business-class folks )
I then depart back to London at 2020 the same day.
I'm more than likely going to spend the day spotting at the airport, probably on the terrace. Either that or exploring in the airport itself
However, I was wondering if there was an easy way to get to the runways and such to get some good photos
Can anyone tell me if there is? The prices for transport [if known] would also be greatly appreciated (Y)
Thanks in advance

The terrace is nice and you can make some good shots from there!
The spots on the runway are about to close, but I dont know when...

I made it that way; < small > without the spaces. I don't really like big writing at the moment tbh...

The one along the 'Kaagbaan' was closed recently, but a new one was opened instead along the newest runway, 'Polderbaan'.

And that new spot is inaccesable unless you are willing to rent a car or bike.
You could try spot 12/13/17 at schipholspotter.com, but since that is a back-up runway for the Kaagbaan you will have only limited operations. Perhaps 40% of the time, 50% if you are lucky.
Number 7 is possible, but do not go there as the planes rarely land there, and if it faces the sun.
Number 18/19 is possible, but takes some time to get there, and a change of busses in Hoofddorp. This runway is a back-up for the Polderbaan so here too only 40% or 50% of the time will there be movements.
Number 1 is also possible, and likely to be busiest (not counting terrace). Here however the planes will fly over rather high (assuming wind forecast SW holds) so probably not good for you. Only the heavies would go over relatively low.
Schiphol has not become easier for people without own transport.
