Hi,

I have recently added some photos to the queue, however when I click on the preview the images look slightly brighter than the file on my computer.

Any Ideas what might be causing this?

Some other info:
- Screen: Samsing Syncmaster T220
- Using latest Internet Explorer
- Saving as Jpeg, Max 12, Baseline Standard format

Thanks,
James

I just resolved a similar problem. Using windows 7 there was a color profile that was showing images on my machine differently than the web posts.
I deleted the profile and images look the same now.

Are you working in sRGB in photoshop or w/e editing software you use?

The colour setting in Ps CS5 im using is North America General Purpose 2, which has sRGB workspace.

I am also using windows vista 64bit with ICC profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (in windows colour management settings)

Hmmm....are you importing/exporting as sRGB as well? By importing, I mean, do you click a dialog box to convert to "working RGB" By exporting, I mean, so you export as sRGB saved for web.

Also, is it only doing it in a.net, or is it doing it in photobucket, flickr, or any other uploading site as well. If it's doing it in both a.net and a photo site, it's an error with settings in photoshop.

edit- The best way to know if you're importing and converting is to check Edit-->Color Settings and see if under Color Management Policies, RGB says Convert to Working RGB, which would then be your sRGB workspace.

Ok I think I might have sorted it now. Earlier I did a test and uploaded the same photo to photobucket and it also came out a bit brighter than the original.

Then I decided to see if there were any colour profiles on importing/exporting and I noticed that in the Camera Raw application in Ps it said that I had Adobe RGB (1998) space and 8bits / channel. I have now changed them to sRGB and 16bits / channel.

I have just uploaded a test file to photobucket again with the new settings and it appears to have corrected it as both images look the same.

Many thanks for your help dumbell

Quoting jamesbath (Reply 5):

No problem. I had zero problems for months, then all of the sudden had all sorts of issues. When Photoshop did an auto-update it defaulted the settings, and I overlooked that when troubleshooting. Finally figured it out and it seems that is the most common issue with PS and uploading.
