Hi everyone,

I will be going to Thailand at the end of the year for about two weeks. While there I plan to do some spotting. Can anyone tell me some spotting locations to shoot from? I tried to do some research but didn't find any recent info. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Larry

Larry,

If you can, book a few nights at the Queens Garden Resort hotel, close to the airport.

If you tell them you are an aviation enthusiast when you book, they will allow you to go onto their roof, from where you can get an excellent view of aircraft on approach.

I suspect this was taken from the hotel. Not too bad.

But there are also pictures from the other side, closer to the threshold.

And from the other runway as well. 1,800 pictures from Suvarnabhumi already in the database. May we conclude that the spotting situation is not too horrible and that you can move in the open?

Hi
i was at the Queens GArden REsort in May and was disappointed
U are under the final for the right runway but practically they landed all the aircraft on the left runway so i was able to photograph just around 10 aircrafts in 2 hours and then i left to visit the city because i was bored....
Can be luck obviously. The people in the hotel are nice and let u on the open deck where are also some seats with no problem

The two linked photos are mine. The first was taken just across the street from the post office under 19R approach path. There is a little spirit house there with a dirt road leading to it. You can sit in your car or under one of the small trees next to the road. Morning only.

The second was taken from the canal off of King Khao road. King Khao road parallels 19R/01L and you can get dropped off at one of the Sois (Soi means alley or small street in Thai) and walk towards the airport until you hit the canal. There is a walkway next to the canal that goes the entire length of the runway so you can capture landing and takeoffs for 19R/01L based on where you are standing. This is good afternoon only.

19L/01R is a little more tricky. There is a long term parking lot next to 19L that I've used but if you are standing around there for any length of time I suspect you will get moved by the police.

I'm not sure if they have a rotating primary runway but last few times i've been out there they seem to use 19L for landing and 19R for takeoffs, although there are always exceptions.
