Hi folks,

Had the following email.....

"Hi Karl,

I'd like to enquire about how to obtain permission to use any shots you have of Flybe Embraer 175 and 195s in the air. They will be used in a trial inflight entertainment system (a hand held 10 inch tablet that will be offered during the flight) on 2 Flybe aircraft. My company is providing an eCard app free of charge and passenger will be able to send eCards with photos of Flybe aircraft on them (as well as destination and departure point photos) to friends and family on the ground.

Many thanks,

XXXNameXXX

XXXCompanyXXX"

How should I deal with this request? I don't think they'll be willing to pay but I'm wondering if I could get some sort of airside access or similar as compensation? Only thing is, they appear to manufacture IFEs so they may have no direct affiliation with Flybe. I don't, however, really want to give my images away for free.

Cheers,

Karl

Problem is that you don''t deal with the airlines itself but with a subcontractor. Ask them if they can give you some contacts withing flybe for maintenance / ramp access in turn for the photo.

Hi Karl,

I had a similar request. I asked if they could offer anything in return and they asked for me to send thumbnails of any shots I had for them to consider (which I did) and they would then be able to 'negotiate a fee'. That was yesterday and I've not heard back yet.

I did get the distinct impression that I wasn't the only person they had contacted so I'm not holding out too much hope, but they did imply they were willing to pay something at least.
