Topic: Wrong Size When Uploading - Auto Rejection?

I have a suggestion about a tool. I think there should be an "automatic rejection" tool, where the image can not be added to the queue if the size is correct.

If this can be solved had it's been a big step forward for Airliners, it feels like: a little bit annoying after waiting a week and then find out that the picture did not come because of the size (ratio).

Eskil.

I agree. It really shouldn't be too difficult to add the logic to the upload page to not accept images that are outside the limits. It would also save the screeners having to check the size of every upload.

Nice idea, but we do have allowances for older images where it is not physically possible for them to fit the size ratio, and we do not want to automatically exclude them from being uploaded.

Just a thought, uploaders could always make sure the aspect ratio is correct before uploading?

Indeed, easily done using photoshop's aspect ratio selecting and you'll never have a problem.

I'm sure every single moving plane shots of yours come out perfect every single time, enough so that you don't need to crop/level them for A.Net standards

Well, if you do, I salute you

Not in a million years... I did accept a challenge once to shoot the equiv of a roll of film that did not need cropping to Anet standards etc... think I got about 25 of the 36!**

There was a poster on here at one time that refused to shoot digital and claimed to have a 97% strike rate shooting slide film... never did get to see any of his images bt I would tend to think his standards were not that high!!

*** I like challenges, was told once at SYD that one needed at least a Canon 5D to stand a chance of having images accepted here.... went and dusted off my 3MP D30 and had several pics accepted over the following weeks.

Haha fun times.. I'd love a reason to use my 400D again for that purpose!

Dana, yes of course one wouldn't want to exclude the exceptional. It wouldn't be rocket science to add a second 'layer' to the auto-rejection that asks the uploader to confirm if the image meets certain other criteria to qualify as an exception.

While it's not a huge deal for the screeners to confirm size and aspect ratio are acceptable, I recall seeing some very oddly sized images where I had to get out my calculator to confirm the ratio was acceptable. Do you not agree it would save some time if you only had to check size and ratio for the exceptions?

Aspect ratio, agreed. Size can be screwed up if you manage a typo when resizing the image. I've done it. None of which actually precludes the site from imposing the size & ratio limits on the upload page. It would save the screeners some time and avoid silly rejections.

typo when resizing the image

I have Constrain proportions box ticked for that very reason
