Hi All,

Last year I had received some very useful advice in here regarding flashes and lenses for my Nikon D90:

After some 10 months of regular use I have taken many good shots with the equipment, however it is sometimes inconvenient when I want to grad a quick cockpit shot to attach the external flash.

I am aware that a pop-up flash diffuser will reduce the range of the already limited pop-up flash range even further, but for cockpit shots it should be fine. Yesterday I took some shots at 12-18mm and didn't have my external flash handy, so I simply held a sheet of paper in front of the flash and the cockpit shot turned out nicely.

Hence my question, does anyone of you have experience with a pop-up flash diffuser? Any recommendations which one fits to the D90?

I would never use the pop-up for cockpit shots because you can't tilt it, which is why I take the small SB-400 plus a small diffuser for it with me when I fly. Maybe others can get quality shots with head-on flash but I cannot

I've seen people use cut-outs from plastic milk bottles, held on by rubber bands.

I must say I was positively surprised how well the shot turned out using a simple sheet of paper, so I thought a diffuser should do the job a little better. What I found so far was this Gary Fong Puffer diffuser though with mixed reviews.

Since its not too costly I may try this for now and see what comes out.

FWIW, I use a Gary Fong diffuser, and it works very well. It was quite expensive, though.

Have you had a change to use it? I also have the D90 and was thinking about trying this out.

Here in Switzerland it costs approx. USD 30, not cheap but additional shipping costs from the EU, US or any other country eventually come to the same result.
