Hi all,

I am flying to LAX on Tuesday August 28th and I am going to go from the airport to the In n Out on Sepulveda Blvd. Is there a way to get there by taking the bus to the parking deck by there? Also I have been looking forward to seeing Transaero for the first time Will they land on that side... by the looks of the pictures the land on AA's side so I am guessing so? And what time does the plane get to LA?

Best Regards

I caught them landing on the north side last week, but it was the first time I'd seen them on that side (that doesn't mean they hadn't landed there before...just that I hadn't been there when they did).

HOWEVER, they only fly into LAX 2x weekly; appears to be on Sunday and Thursday, which would be the 26th and the 30th.

Don't know about buses/shuttles....maybe you can take The Parking Spot shuttle? If you can exit the airport on foot (and don't have much baggage) I would just walk.

All I will have is a back pack and my camera so I am good... How would I walk DL arrivals to the spot.

Which would you prefer Imperial Hill or In n out (the camera I have is a Point and shoot) for shots of heavies?

Plenty of heavies on both sides.

If you have a long enough zoom, it'd probably be easier from Imperial Hill, as the aircraft will be moving across your field of vision slower than at the In'n'Out (tracking planes and focusing can be difficult with a point-and-shoot).

Don't know. I've never walked out of the airport; I assume you can, but I don't know.

I wouldn't walk to Imperial Hill, though.

How much would a cab be?

Couldn't tell ya, but looks like cab companies have a minimum fare of $15 from LAX. Not worth it for 2 miles. Only reason I wouldn't walk is that you have to walk way around to avoid the Sepulveda tunnel, and I don't think there are sidewalks through it.

Looks like you can take a shuttle to the LAX City Bus Center, then take Beach Cities Transit line 109 to Main St / Imperial Ave. That'll be slower but much cheaper.

Or take the free shuttle to the Embassy Suites on Imperial Ave. It's about a half-mile walk to the hill from there.

That's all I got....since I live here, I've never had to do any of this, so don't know the options very well.

Thanks anyways I will probably do the last option though that way I could get better chances at good shots and possibly even time both areas.

Not sure what time your desired "catch" arrives, but checking TPE it looks like the lighting from Imperial Hill will be poor from about 4:45 p.m. onward on August 28. The sun is pretty much aligned straight-on with the runways between about 5 and 6, then starts to swing to a position that would make the In-N-Out location better from about 6 until sunset. It looks like the usable light will be gone by just after 7 p.m. Sunset is at 7:23.

If the OP is flying into LAX specifically for photography, I'd save my money and visit instead sometime after late November. The lighting conditions for photography anywhere around LAX is terrible this time of year.

One can walk from Terminal 1 to the In and Out via SkyWay and Sepulveda Blvd. It's not as long as a walk as it seems.

I don't recommend using the Embassy Suites shuttle to get to Imperial Hill. A lot of people have been doing that lately and I wouldn't be surprised if they start checking to see if you are a registered guest. Don't be a cheapskate please.

This is the time of year that if I find myself in SoCal I skip LAX and instead shoot at SNA or LGB. That is if I'm not doing any brewery tours.
