Topic: 6,000 Photographers? Username: Bruce Posted 2003-04-06 10:25:03 and read 1220 times.I was just reading something interesting on the "about" page of this site.
Johan says that there are "6,000 photographers" and of those only "almost 500 have 100 or more photos on the database". Only 500 out of 6,000?? That would mean that the overwhelming majority of photographers have less than 100 photos. Over 92% of all the photographers have less than 100 to be more exact. Is that a typo? It seems kind of odd. I wonder what that 6,000 number would be if you counted only "active" photographers - those who have had at least 1 upload within the past 12 months.

I primarily photograph gliders and as I live in Canada, it is only really a 5 month good shooting season. While I have some airliner photos on the site, I personally choose to submit only those unique images that I personally like. The quality (self-imposed) vs quantity approach.
So just for fun, here are my stats.
"You currently have 18 photos in our database. The large version of all your photos have been viewed a total of 70348 distinct times. On average, a photo of yours has been viewed 3908 times."
It will probably take me a long time to get to the 100 submission list, but that isn't a goal that consumes me. I'll keep plodding along submitting those photos that I feel might be of some interest to others and let the stats page take care of itself.
Steve
p.s. Now if someone would buy me a D100........ different story.
