I read a lot of bad experience with Airport police in here but thought I would share a good experience
I was out taking pictures today at the observation area and a Airport police guy came up to me and asked me what I was taking pictures off. I said nicely the aircraft on the runway any way he said it was FAA regulation that they check the ID of who ever was taking the pictures and so while he was running my ID we talking he was very nice through the whole thing and he asked what I did with the pictures. And before I could bet the whole I post them on Airliners.net out he finished the .net part of it. He was very familiar with the site said he went there ally the time. Anyway every thing checked out all right. And he said OK have fun but right before he left I said now you know me name check out my pictures He smiled and said he would.....So a VERY good experience in Nashville this afternoon at the observation area....

If we could get all the airport police to realize we are out for the pure enjoyment of the experience, as well as the thrill of getting that one special shot, our excursions would be so much more relaxed. We may even be able to get some " special access ". Of course, that is just dreaming, but, hopefully we can get some of them to understand that a hobby is just a hobby. (no offense to those of you who do this as a living..... is that really possible ????)

Lately, I feel a kind of guilt for pulling out a large white lens as an aircraft lands. I don't think I should feel bad for wanting to enhance my knowledge of photography with aircraft as the subject. I wonder what the "airport police" would say if I questioned them about their motives for taking photos of their son/daughter at high school graduation ??

I realize we are very fortunate to have a nice observation area on the west side of the airport and nice police here Now if I could only get some bigger aircraft to come here. Bruce knows what I mean

Paul,
what do you mean by this:
"Now if I could only get some bigger aircraft to come here."

are you saying that no big aircraft fly into BNA?  Wink/being sarcastic just kidding...hehe

it's always encouraging to have a good experience with the police/airport ops people and whoever else patrols the perimeter and elsewhere...i haven't had any run-ins with the authorities in a good while, but that's not to say that i won't...i went exploring at JAX the other day and found a few good spots, and at one point i was parked at a gate right along the fence, and a couple of cop cars drove by me but none stopped...i'll definitely have to go back and check it out though...

best of luck to ya at BNA!
