I am on the move again! This time I have a short 24 hour trip to PVD. The company paid for it, and let me choose the flighs, so I chose the longest (of course, I love to fly!). I have 6 days to make plans on what/where to try and shoot during my layovers and limited amount of free time. This will also be my very first trip ever on an Airbus jet! I have some specific questions:
At MEM, is it possible to get decent shots from INSIDE the terminal thru the windows in the early morning hours 7am - 8am? Where in the terminal?
At DTW, same question. Someone said their windows are tinted but is there any vantage point that would be good near mid day?
At DTW, how is the security lines. Is it going to take a long time to go thru on a Friday aroud noon? If not maybe I can head out to the garage in my free time. Also, can you go to the other terminals like International from the Northwest terminal? Does DTW have any lockers where I can put my extra stuff while I go out to the parking garage?
At Boston: I'm going to be in Providence. do you think it is worthy of a drive up to BOS to shoot? It would be in the very early hours on a Saturday like 7am - 9am. Are any of the Boston shooters going to be around on Saturday 9/20? I'm thinking that since I have a couple hours to spend on Saturday I would do better at BOS than PVD.

Forget about DTW - the windows in the NW terminal are covered in a dot-pattern tint that will make photography nearly impossible. However, if aircraft are far away, you can use a small aperture and lots of zoom to minimize the problem. But forget about wide-angle shots from the terminal windows.
It's a pretty annoying texture, actually, because if you walk right up to the windows and try to look out, it's hard for the eyes to focus through it.
It's an amazing terminal, but they made a bad choice with that "tint".

Is the parking garage in this photo the one that you go to to shoot pics? What kind of angles can you get from there with a 300mm lens?

I recommended MEM. Inside the terminals as already mentioned at DTW photography is impossible. It's not that great at MEM either, but at least you have a shot.
Last time I went through DTW the line to security was bad. If it's like that when you go through there that will eat up all of your possible shooting time from the garage. MEM however does have a few spots, but I remember them to be evening spots. The lesser of two evils is probably MEM.
Sounds like you are on Northwest. Can you book your ticket through MSP?

Yep...I am on Northwest. I am going to PVD so all of those flights that I looked up were going thru DTW or MEM + DTW. I'm going on an A319 for the first time DTW-PVD.
