A business trip finally out west to SLC arriving Sunday late morning and will have the rest of the day to shoot. Any info on good locations would be greatly appreciated.

Sunday evening I'll be driving up to Hill AFB where I will be working the week. I understand they have a good museum there with lots of aircraft. Any good spots for shooting at Hill?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Art, I believe the viewing park @ SLC is still closed, so your options are the top of the parking garage (200mm w/ D100) or west of the field you can shot departure shots as the planes take off and bank towards you, assuming they are taking off to the south.

Royal

Thanks for the response. I went over the spots tonight with Sam on a map so I'm pretty well set for SLC. I guess nobody knows anything about Hill AFB. Well, I'll find out for sure having to spend the week there. Who knows, maybe something good.

Thanks again.

Art,
Will you be on the base?

If so, I remember a few nice spots near operations, and over near the club. Damn it's been a while since I was there last, but I am pretty sure about the OPS location.

They don't have much out there that I remember except lawn darts (F-16's).

Have fun!

Jeff

Art,

If I recall correctly you will almost definitely need base access to get any kind of decent shots at Hill. You should try contacting the PAO or a squadron to see if they can give you a tour.

As far as I know we will be on the base. We're doing some work for them and I belive the location is on the base, but my coworker made the arrangements. I figure when I get there on Monday morning I'll start the rounds of questions and see what develops. Not looking for much since I'll be working all day and only have a couple of hours after work, but if I get something then I'll be happy.

Jeff, as you know I'm really looking forward to next weekend in DEN with you guys. I'm giving up another chance at the Myria AN225 coming back to JFK next week for this trip to DEN ... so I do hope it's a good one. Please pray to the Colorado (and SLC) weather Gods that it will be nice. Sam Chui spent the week at my house and had perfect weather the whole time and, mind you, hurricane Isabel hit in the middle of the week. I get caught in ATL because all NY flights are canceled and when I do get home and go to JFK (Sat.) to catch the AN225 it's hazy as Hell. Go figure.

Thanks for the replies
