today turned out better than i had planned. phil convinced me to go to Kids Day at KLGA with him. after we met at Planeview Park we walked over to the Marine Air Terminal and walked out onto the ramp. on display were two 737-400's. one from Delta Shuttle, the other from US Airways. American brought an MD-80. PAPD had thier S-76 on the ramp, in addition to the NYPD Bell 412 that showed up a bit later on. the Navy was represnted by a P-3C, UH-60, and two F-18's. not to be outdone the Army brought one of thier own H-60's. there were a few famous faces in attendance. we all had fun and have the shots to prove it. here are a few samples:

I took one look at that shot and went home and immediately trimmed my beard. Damn, I'm ragged looking, but business travels during the week and aviation weekends the last month have kept me out of the barber shop. Now that I think of it, that's not a bad thing.
Kid's day at LGA turned out to be a salvation for me. Very disappointing morning when Yevgheny and I went to shoot the AN225 at JFK. They cleared her to land on 31L and we were in position just salivating. Somewhere along the line they switched her to 31R and our shots are worthless because of the haze and heat distortion. So, going to LGA and running into some old friends and making a few new ones really saved the day for me. And, I must admit, sitting in the MD-80 and being served a beverage and pretzels was nice, especially nice because I wasn't paying for it this time
Thanks Matt for putting this thread up to let the others know that we in the NY Metro area are a good, fun group and know how to enjoy our sport.
