Bill had emailed me this great shot of a 737 fuselage before he submitted it to A.net and asked if I had any idea what series it was...

Can we help him out, anyone?

How often are components this large shipped by rail?

Cheers, Dripstick

All Boeing 737s arrive in Washington by rail because the fuselage is built in Wichita, Kansas and it takes 8 days by train to get to the final assembly place.

That one is most likely a 737-700 because the 800 and 900 have two over-wing exit doors AND the 900 (not sure about 800) is longer = more windows behind the exit door. There are 18 windows on that one.

Here is a 700

The 800 is longer and has 23 windows aft of the wing exit door.

It also has 23 windows. The 800 and 900 are visibly longer.
