And he should also have a frequency scanner, and a radar image of what's in the air  Big grin

You can buy a good car for that, or a few round the world trip tickets.

I saw a guy at Le Bourget which had a similar set up. I was really impressed and even took a picture of him, I'll perhaps post the image later on today.

. . . . . . . . . . admire in silence . . . . . holy cow, now if those glasses would be white L's . . .

Wait for his next year features, he'll probably be carrying a radar guided panning system in his photobag as well!

This guy better not set up shop next to a runway at a major international [US] airport. Not sure how TSA or rent-a-cops would react to such a shooting range!

I would like to see his post processing set-up. Did I hear anyone objecting to batch-processing . . . ???

In the second photo he must be thinking: mighty nice people at Nikon, they even gave me a free cap after buying all this stuff!

Best replies in that thread:

* Does he need a permit to transport that?
* What lenses were left for other Nikon shooters that day?
* Judgeing by that "gents" expression in the second shot, I would have to guess that you were shooting with your Canon!
* Is the light meter in the second shot used to measure light or is it an early warning device for capsize?
* Is that part of the SETI array?
* How many shots does he miss when trying to swing that monstrosity around to follow action?
* How far are those tripod legs into the ground by the end of the day and does he need to scan for buried electrical wires before picking his spot?
* Couldn't he afford a better chair?
* Is he compensating for something?
* What lenses were left for other Nikon shooters that day?
* When on holidays does he hang that around his neck, or does he prefer a hand strap?
* You should see his flash setup!
* Couldn't he afford a better chair?
* It's like going fly fishing and seeing a guy upstream with a siene net!
* Hope he isn't using manual settings on each camera . . .
* . . . not a candidate for switching to Canon.

I'll stick to my Canon.
