All you NYC guys, does anybody plan on going out and getting the final day of concorde action at JFK? I have Friday off and was tempted to come up again for the day. Thanks.

Justin

Grrr I can't pass this up. I can use one of my vouchers with USAir...but I'd end up in either EWR or LGA. Delta I could get to JFK ($150 later though  Sad ) (and if I pay someone enough) I could bum a ride. I'll see what I can do.....

Justin

I didn't know she was departing so early....I might get into JFK on the 23rd at midnight and camp out then......hmmmm.

I'm from South Jersey and wanted to see the concorde land/take-off for my first and only time. Where would be good spots to get some decent pictures. I am not too familiar with the area. Maybe i can meet up with you guys too

I was considering coming, but even with 1600ASA, a 7am departure means shooting in darkness just about- I think this is better for video. Where's Phil?

shooting video too. Thanks to Rick for letting me borrow a scanner.

Also, my contact for TV production might be interested in us watching the last Concorde. The more the merrier, so let us know who is coming.

The beach sounds like a plan.

whoa, i didn't realize the last arrival at JFK is on thursday and the last departure is on friday at 7am...it will be fairly dark out. I think i am going to try to go this Sunday, i really want to get a picture of it taking off and landing, only problem is that there's about a 7hr time difference between the two.

LGA777 will drag himself out of bed and meet you guys Friday morning. As Joe Pries said video will be a good choice. I watched BA 001 depart 9R at LHR a few weeks ago at dusk and while the photos are pretty sorry if I had my video camera the shot would have been awesome, especially the way the orange glow from the afterburners looked. Maybe we could all go to Breakfast after she departs ?

Is there a specific runway the concorde takesoff/lands on? I know there are several different runways planes can be using at one time and i dont want to make the trip up to JFK and then pick the wrong runway to spot.

I'd like to get some pics during daylight. If anyone is going before the last flight please let me know, I don't know the area around JFK too well much less how to get to a good place to take pics.

OK!

Flying Song into JFK, arriving at 10pm. I'll crash overnight in JFK, but if someone could swing around and grab me in the morning that would be great. I leave the 24th at 5:30pm.  Big thumbs up

The spot they are all talking about meeting is a park off Cross Bay Blvd. which is good only if she departs 31L. Check the map out on my website for location marked A.

http://www.anniebees.com

Follow links for aviation photography and spotting.

That spot is only good for 31L departures. If she goes any other runway you won't get a picture. I know we've had this discussion before. If they are using the 04s Concorde is not allowed to take off on 04 and they can either send her off of 13R, 31L or stop the traffic and send her 22R. If she doesn't go 22R then it's probably going to be 31L, but who knows. The better spot for 22R is marked F. The consolation about being at F if she does go on 31L is that you can still get a shot. She'll be small, but she should pass overhead the 04L departure traffic.

The next thing to remember is that it's going to be quite dark that early in the morning so we shouldn't set our expectations that high. But, anything will be worth it in my book.
