Hi,

I brought my Canon 300D the past friday. I tried with a Canon 75-300 4.5-5.6 Lens, but the photos came out really dark. I asked to some people and they told me that it could be the lens I was using.

So thats why I'm asking what lens do you guys use on your Canon 10D or 300D. And what settings are the best to get clear shots!

Regards,

Felipe

Your photos probably came out dark because of crappy weather. The lens (I own it) really does suck when there isn't a lot of sun (or at least that is my opinion). What setting is it on when you are shooting? Tell more about the weather conditions and the settings...

Don't worry, that's normal, now you have to work the photos on Photoshop. DSLR original pictures ALWAYS need to be edited to extract the maximum quality.

Nevertheless, on the 737 photo the light conditions were not good, the sun seems to be in front of you.

But, it's not a lens problem.

I agree. Adjust the levels in photoshop and they will look alright.

Hi Felipe,

Might want to try calibrating your monitor again as well:

Felipe, until September I was using a Canon 75-300 IS with a Canon D60, my results were just your two examples above. The lens is fine, no problem, it's very important to work the photo on Photoshop.

Whoa...that is not as dark as I thought they would be (try shooting in low light!). Fix the levels in Photoshop/unsharp mask, your photo is good.

Felipe, I use the same Canon 75-300 USM as you, it's not too bad for its low price. I also recommend using the monitor calibration software. Most monitors need to be adjusted from the factory settings. I also ran your pics through photoshop and they were easily improved.

Hallo Felipe,

photographing with a D60 since over 1 year I first used the same lens like you.
I was not very satisfied because it was vigneting (dark edges) at 300mm.
Now I use a 100-400 IS L USM (a really not cheap lens) but the results are quite good.A alternate to this lens will be the 75-300 IS which a friend of mine is using. It produces a good quality. But reworking with a Photo editing program (i.e.Photoshop) is always necessary.

Wishes
Andy
