I got this yesterday and didn't have a chance to respond until the late evening regarding a photo of a Great Lakes Airlines Brasilia:
"Hello! We would like to use this photo for a story we're doing in our 5pm
newscast...and I was writing to get permission.
Thanks for your help....A prompt reply would be appreciated..because we are
under a deadline.
Their email addy is at ksn.com - I guess its a local NBC affiliate for Wichita, KS.
I replied stating it would cost money obviously... doubt I'll get a response but I was concerned they might have used the photo without permission. Sounded like a mass mailing so just wondering if anyone else got it...

While not making any excuses for them in not replying to your emails, and not withstanding that they were under deadline pressure and didn't want to pay, we should also at least consider that they were POLITE enough to ask. They could just as well have taken and used the photo without permission and you probably would never have known.
They should be commended for having either a polity, or a reporter/researcher with enough integrity to respect Copyright and ask first.
Lets not be too harsh on them because they didn't follow up.

Well, I can say that at least they were courteous enough to ASK you.. Most likely what they want it for is to use in a graphic image. i have been in their shoes before - I have worked at a tv station and made graphics.
go to my website, and the "work" page, and on the lower left the "graphics" icon will bring you a little slideshow of some graphics I made. If i needed a plane I used one of my own, as you can see for the Blue Angels one i did. Something like that is most likely how they intend to use it.

Jeff, Guess we won't be hearing back from them then, old news already that Lakes started service to ICT
Steve and Bruce, I'll give them a little credit for asking but they should expect to pay nowadays and come out and make an offer. Not even AWST wanted to pay me for a shot of a crashed airplane last month (and they asked me).
