...I was planning on getting an EOS300D as a present to myself for Christmas, but some unfortunate incidents involving the (stupid) purchase of a secondhand Fiap Brava changed all that. However, I had promised my three-month old Fuji S5000 to 707cmf, so I am in a dire predicament for the start of the 2003/2004 winter charter season at CMF. However, after reviewing all my liquid assets and planned income, it appears that I would have sufficient financial resources to afford one of the following fine cameras; i.e the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-V1 or the Canon PowerShot G5 as both are much more afordable than the EOS300D. Do anyone of you own one of the aforementioned cameras ? and any photo examples, please (plug plug )
Will
P.S : let's take this opportunity to show you a 763 also in a dire predicament :

Hi William,
I dunno mate... you were planning on going from your relatively new Fuji S5000 (3.1Mp, 38-380mm lens) to an EOS300D (6mp & whatever lens you can throw at it) but now are going to go for a Canon G5 (5mp 35-140mm lens) or a Sony DSC-V1 (5mp, 34-136mm lens).... for aviation photography?
Have you decided that you really don't need the big lens after all? Is Antoine's camera situation in such a predicament that he can't wait for you to be able to afford the EOS300D?
Just something to think about...
Cheers!

Tell 707cmf he'll have to wait a bit longer, save up the cents, pennies or whatever it is you save over there these days, and then go out buy a 300D when you can afford it. Moving from one kiddie cam to another once you've realised you need a DSLR is a big mistake and a waste of money.

Will,
Just go for the 300D, best investment you'll ever make. Instead of buying a camera every 6 months (sounds familiar doesn't it... ), I know since I got the 10D I know what the meaning of having a real camera is, those digital cams as good as they sound will never compare to a DSLR...
If I need something long , I just take out my EOS30 with the 75/300 IS USM.
As for DUB...the only things I'm interested in (apart from sex) are widebodies, and for that 140/150 mm nails them on the 28:

He has an Olympus C-700, so the answer is yes
This is Antoine's latest handiwork :
Edit for Tim :
I'lle be in CMF on the week of the 14th to 20th december, and I'll drag 707cmf and myself to the land of the Gruyere lol...can't wait to be back on my little mountain near runway 23 and shop at Balexert again

Will,
Nice to see you'll be heading back here. You'll be missing the summit of information by a day (rumours say we'll have castro comming in). I'll be on vacation on the 19th, might try and come out that day. Weather has been horrible here lately with very heavy fog. Anyway you know where I am almost every saturday during winter...

Nah, don't worry, I am not desperate and I even have a backlog of pictures waiting to be uploaded plus winter Charter season is coming back...
But I ain't going toby a DSLR... I'm buying Will's camera because it's a bargain, but otherwise, money for me is for flying, shooting pics will always come second (I should not be saying that in this forum )
707, pilot then photographer (I'm just waiting for Will to say that I'm a worse pilot than I am a photographer )

IMHO, flying with 707cmf is a nice experience...until we get to the landing part lol...
As for a photographer, his pics aren't bad, provided you like seeing Autoventilators and Poop du Ciel aircraft

Now, I had never ever did to that day a landing in that type of aircraft, so that was the first time I attempted to land it (nor had I yet soloed in my faithfull Kilo Fox). You also have to add the fact that LFKA is a restricted airfield, with a shortr runway, and obstacles on both sides of the runway (see the hill right before the runway threshold, and the trees at the other end.
A we were doing a touch'n' go, I *had* to slam the aircraft onto the runway !
And remember, this was not a Cesnouille that will land itself for you
