I just got my Christmas gift and have some concern. Manual says file size with 3072*2048 with low compression should be around 3 mb. My camera gives at this setting files 1.5-2.0 mb which would look like 3072*2048 with high compresion. Is it normal? What file size do you get guys with that camera?

I get 1.5 to 2.0 MB files shooting with the best quality JPEG - exactly the same as you. This was outdoor scenery (holiday snaps). You will get bigger files when shooting a lot of detail.
Shooting RAW, I get file sizes approx. 5 MB.
This is from a 10D, which uses the same CMOS sensor as the Rebel.

Your RAW files are only 5mb??? I usually get about 18mb in raw....fine jpeg are also in the 1.5 to 2 mb range.
