We are having an argument with fellow A.net photographer Will Ronciere over a night shot of a royal bizjet.

We shot (inadvertently, we weren't there at the same time) almost the same picture of the same aircraft, he with a Canon G5, me with my old faithful Olympus C700.

Mine is on the left. I think (and not only because I shot it) that mine is better than his, but we are putting the decision between your hands, guys.

Hi

A little childish to bringing a personal discussion into the forum but I much prefer Williams image.

Antoine, your shot has bad sky and not as sharp as Williams.

Cheers

Sad way of getting more hits  Sad although I guess desperation does all sorts of things!  Laugh out loud

Anyway, I got suckered into giving you one each, and the answer is easy - William's is far better.

I agree that William's pic is much better. No comparison really...

Who cares if you wanna get more hits???? Honestly, it's not like you're getting big bucks or anything. If you don't wanna click it, then don't click on it!!!

You obviously haven't heard of ANET's views for cents deal??Many have upgraded to broadband as a result.

Agreed, Will's picture is the higher quality image of the two, but putting aside the cents for hits discussions for now, I'm not convinced it's a straightforward 2vs5 Mp issue.

For me, the lack of noise in the night sky, plus the lack of the orange colour cast makes me think it's the better image of the two.

I've had a crack at running it through Photoshop, and apart from the flare from the runway light I've managed to get those features out.... not that it matters really! The image was accepted....

Cheers!

The quality of shots it comes down to three things
(If the composition is acceptable)

1. Camera used
2. Lens used
3. Editing

More often then not, the edit makes or breaks the first two.
In this case William's edit is very well done (all things considered)

But both images highlight a negative of the rangefinger/non DSLR digitals:
High noise levels.

A ranger finder can have 8MPs and still not match the crispness of even the 3MP D30.

okay, thanks for the appreciations (and the hits  Wink/being sarcastic ).

Justy a side note, there is no 'night sky' at all in the picture, as CMF is surrounded by mountains... here is a picture from the same angle (not necessarly a plug, but feel free to click on it  Wink/being sarcastic )
