Sorry I can't make it ths year. The date is just too early for me everytime to fly into MIA
This is a slide trading/selling show that we have had for over 14 years now. This year, though, we are going to add a little memorabelia, such as some post cards, prints, and plastic models.....but 90% of the show is slides. Many of the world's best photographers, authors, and magazine editors, will be present.... this is the largest gathering of slide enthusiasts in the Americas and many nice slides are available from the US as well as from other countries with a large variety of aircraft both past and present.
Show will be held at the Miami Springs (MIA) Comfort Inn and Suites on 36th street (on the north end of the airport).
January 13 thru January 16, it will be from 6:30 PM to about 11:00 PM (slide trading/selling/some memorabelia)($2.00 donation fee pre weekday)
On January 17th....(Saturday)....here is the schedule.......
9-11 AM we meet for breakfast at IHOP (one block away from hotel)
11AM - 5PM Slide trading and selling ($3.00 donation fee for slide trading/selling on Saturday)
(1 PM ramp tour - if available - ... photographers / weekly show traders/sellers are priority and seats are limited)
for the tour- photographers will only be allowed to bring a camera and some film.....no bags permitted
6PM-8PM we all meet for dinner at Shorty's BBQ, about 5 miles away
8PM to closing ....slide show and auction at Atlantic Models (a few miles north of MIA).
Some nice door prizes will be raffled during the slide show and we will have plenty of drinks for all. We will also be presenting the first annual person of the year award and will have an "Action Shot" slide contest with the winner being presented a nice plaque and a spot in the World Airline Historical Society Captains Log magazine.
Please bring your best "action original slide" for the contest.....see Joe Fernandez for rules during show. Also, bring some nice slides to trade/sell and to auction off.
Internet will be available from Tuesday thru Friday to catch your favorite online auctions.
FOR PHOTOGRAPHY (Information may vary but here is the current Miami area situation):
FLL is closed at all locations to photographers while code Orange...that includes the parking garage.
MIA is open at the runway 12 photo holes (official spot) and the runway 9R spot by El Dorado furniture.
OPF - ask authorities/owners of aircraft first. DO NOT VENTURE OUT INTO ANY AIRPORT WITHOUT PERMISSION.
NO LADDERS PERMITTED AND DO NOT PARK OR USE ANY OF THE U.S. CUSTOMS LOTS !!!
(There are some officers who may ask you to leave, but for the most part, it is fine as of now - there has bee no problem the last few weeks).
Thank you and see you all next week!

Hey Guys,
But, I won't not able go to FLL/MIA and I am not live in FLL anymore. That is why we are moving to PHX already and I'm gonna miss of you guys with my friend of Joe Fernandez & Eddy Gual, too. Maybe if we can go visit you in Florida for next few months and etc. We will let you know what is going on for FLL. Thanks!

I'll be up there Fri/Sat/Sun, just curious how everything is going so far (security wise?). They usually have a heads up about us being down there, just wondering if there have been any problems yet. Thanks.

Was down at the 9L-12 fence holes yesterday and had no problems with security. Police and other security drove past numerous times and didn't bat an eyelid at the five of us that were there.
The first night of the Slide Fest was good and people were rolling in from their flights throughout the 4 hrs I was there, bringing with them lots of cool slides.

Weather is great. Not a cloud in the sky today. Sigma lenses....well Wolfe is the only place I know of but they tend to rip you off. I would go for a respected online dealer instead.
