Hi All,

Don't know if my monitor is calibrated properly or not but I got a Badscan for the following shot.

I'm using a LCD screen and am thinking of getting a CRT. Would appreciate any thoughts or comments about this shot and how perhaps I can improve on it. Can it be improved on for future submission?

Hi Terence,

The sharpness looks okay to me, allthough the color seems a bit of. I would have expected a 'badcolor' comment from the screeners instead of a 'badscan'

I don't think a CRT screen would be better then a LCD screen, important is that you calibrated your LCD screen properly! I'm sure there are some freeware tools available on the net to do this.

Good luck!

Correction on Stevens message: CRT screens ARE better, unless you have a very expensive (1000+ dollars) LCD screen.

And I'd say its badcolor as well.

Ditch the LCD, and get a decent CRT. It is a world of difference. Just look at the specs between the two types and you'll be surprised..

Thanks all. I had a feeling that the color was a little off, but just couldn't tell on my screen. Don't know too much of color calibration on monitors so I better read up on that. I was actually after your comments about the sharpness since I got the Badscan result. Your answers convinced me that my eyes weren't deceiving me, the image is relatively sharp but the color needs to be worked on.

I am using a pretty expensive LCD screen. That's only because I bought it almost 6 years back when LCDs appeared on the mass market. This little 15" IBM display of mine cost about $1500 back then, a pretty hefty sum. It's still a pretty good screen and I have no intentions of ditching it. Will probably go pick up a flat panet CRT next week to complement my LCD. Just hope the wife doesn't start complaining when she see yet another piece of new hardware.
