All,

Just had a rejection, which dont normally result in me leaving forum posts. However, I was really sad to see one of my best photos of the day rejected. The below was rejected for "badmotiv"...

http://www.myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00056493

Should I appeal - Yes/No?

Thanks,

Appeal? No - because it's going to sit in the queue for a while.

I LOVE the shot, I say rework it and resubmit it.

Awesome shot.

Hi,

I think that yellow box in front of the picture is somewhat distracting!
Also that big crane in the back isn't helping your pic.
I had several picture ruined by that "additional" ramp stuff on my
picture..  Sad

For the rest, great picture Aaron!
Keep them coming.  Big thumbs up

Daniel

I don't like the crane in the background, which may have been the reason. There is a large blown out section on the nose as well.

The lightning is good and the image is sharp enough.

Sharp...? No.

Not worth appealing IMHO.

Nice pic but sadly just the wrong side of acceptable for this site.... :-(

Aaron,

Image is slightly overexposed, your shot could have easily been rejected as a badscan. The badmotiv can only be a result of the yellow pannel.

I'd just say leave the shot as it is, you'll have other opportunities to take a picture of it (unless of course you took a similar shot moments before without the pannel...).

Cheers,
Tim

I have a lot of similar rejections... about 70% percent of photos taken at this spot were rejected.
I think they will reject the photo unless it is very interesting.

Please excuse my poor English.

Part of the last 45 shots added to Airliners.net. It isn't only how interesting the photo is but especially not having any obstruction or distractive objects visible.

Hello,

Please take a look at my badmotiv rejections. Are there any obstructions or distractive objects visible?

Here is what I see:

1-BA tail infront, and something else underneath and behind. Starboard mains hidden.
2-stabilator and right wingtip missing/cutoff.
3-not as bad as the first two, but there sure is a lot of junk in the foreground.

Just an opionion. But those items listed could have been avoided.

Thanks for the replies folks - really appreciate your replies. I will not consider an appeal, as it seems fair that there were too many obstructions and such like preventing this photo's life on a.net

I was considering some Photoshop skills to eliminate these obstructions, but then does the be deemed cheating? One final note, is that Danny Hill had a successfull upload of the same aircraft anyway (I was with him at the time) so really no need.

Its been great hearing from you and you have all helped me and also saved an appeal to the already increasing high amount of pictures to be screened.

Thanks,

Aaron

I hate looking at rejected shots, especially ones as good as this one - it makes my stomach sink because I currently have a few in the upload queue, and they're nowhere near as good as what's getting rejected.

Recently I made the upgrade from a 4 megapixel point-and-shoot (Olympus C-4040Z) to a Canon Digital Rebel, and I'm learning a lot about it. I went to ATL and BHM to do some spotting, and brought home close to 100 images, 7 of which I cleaned up and uploaded. Only time will tell I guess!

This is one of them, I can't help but wonder if I've just added 7 rejections to my record!

Raymond,

Although you state that these were rejected for Bad Motiv to match with the thread, two of these shots were not rejected for bad motiv at all.

More often than not, if you see what you may consider as being marginal "bad motiv", then look for other reasons. In all three, I would have been quite specific as to the one of two reasons I would have rejected.
I sometimes mark the main reason only.... but I try to be diligent and provide you all with the reasons you might require in fixing the image or in some cases, choosing another in the sequence

Kind Regards,

Glenn Stewart
