Hi all,

How do you get pure white snow pictures?

It seems that on this picture the snow has some sort
of a rose tint?!

Wasn't there a solution with under or overexposures?

Thx,

Daniel

Daniel,
The snow (white) get the off color tint due to the different color temperature each type of light emits. It's a frequency thing.

You alter the colour temperature (or white balance) of the photo in your chosen image editing software.

Maybe that shooting RAW in such cases can
provide more flexibitily to alter the colour temperature?

I'm using PShop 7 right now althought I don't know how
to improve this one...

Many thx,

Daniel

In photoshop you can play with the color balance Move the slider down to -60 for the cyan and take a look at the difference. Play with these levels to see what works for you.

Hey guys!

Just come to INN, it is snowing without a brake for 2 days now  Big thumbs up
Pure white, not easy... The surrounding conditions might have influence on the snow color... I don't know exactly; the snow here at INN is always white  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Improved with Photoshop, select 18% gray in the photo with the Levels tool.

Daniel,

Colorwasher is a great program.. I would actually hate to say thank you to JeffM for showing this to me..  Big grin It would probably fix that image.. If you send me the original I can play with it and shoot it back to you.

Regards,
Chad
