Zoomed Out Shots

I love shots that are kinda zoomed out and taken from a slightly higher level than the runway.

I am ALL ABOUT backgrounds. I think all the different kinds of framing that cna be done with a plane alone has been done already, and the true pioneership in still aviaiton photography all has to do with what is behind or around the plane.

This is why I fell in love with my dock, where I get these shots (sorry for the plug):

These shots are not common popular photos to me though. Whenever you look at the most popular shots over the previsou day, you always see cabin shots and closeups and stuff. So I was excited when I saw these most recent popular shots. Some really great stuff:

I love these shots and it's nice to see that maybe they are catching on.

Hi Phil,

I am not a fan of plugging but here I would like to.

I too love this angle/background ever since I shot my own photos like this back in Summer 2003.

You guys are 100% right, these are amazing shots!

Ben...

How much zoom do you need for doing these shots (eg the BA772, AA772...)?
I love them, especially the A330 from MyTravel!

Good work!

regards. Florian

I have shot a lot like this, but rarely upload here for fear of the dreaded baddistance.

Been burned too many times. And not unlike Pavlov's mutt... I've learned.

Often you'll get a baddistance for such shots, which is unfortunate to me, because they are often great airport overview and aircraft shots in one, or jsut make the overall beauty of the shot so much better.

Luis, that Swiss MD80 shot is amazing.
