Just checked the weather forecast... Like you said, it doesn't look too promising. However, I'm optimistic and will see what will happen. It may still change.

Yup... If the weather is decent, I'll probably go to the airport and have a look.
Can't go on saturday, but sunday perhaps, if weather permits it...
Cheers,
Eduard

Hi Jorgos,
Nice to see you're going to AMS. I myself wanted to go there last Sunday, but since weather wasn't too good and I just returned from Toulouse, I decided to stay home.
However, I'm planning to go there myself again when weather allows. I remember last year, when I went to AMS on the 23rd of March, weather was extremely good and it was really warm already. So I'm keeping my equipment standby every weekend
Anyway, now that you've started this topic, maybe somebody over here could tell me something about new photo opportunities since the new RWY was introduced. I'm pretty much aware of 'old' spots, but how about new spots, and especially how to get there by car (e.g. the TWY bridge over the highway,...)?
Enjoy your visit Jorgos. Maybe we'll see each other again soon...

The map I indicated does not show a 'spot', it just shows the surroundings. Just driving directions. Any of the roads around the runway provide a view of it.

I will display the map of the surroundings of the "Polderbaan" here. The red dots are spotting places. I am not very good at reading maps, so please correct me if I am wrong:
1) This is a nice place where you can have a good view of rotations. I know that you can get there by car. There is a small roundabout at the end and a fence where you can park your car.
2) I don't know if you can get there by car
3) I don't know if you can get there by car
4) This is the place where you can see the planes crossing the road at only 15 meters distance. You can get the pilots waving at you. There is not much parking space and it is all mud.
The highway leading to the "Rottepolderplein" is the A9.

Joge...
The new runway will be main take off runway next weekend (North/NorthEast wind expected). During the take-off "rush hours" (10:00-11:30, 13:30-15:00, 19:00-20:30) the new runway will handle west-bound traffic, 18C-36C od 09-27 will handle Eastbound.
Send me an email if you want more detailed info...

How do you know that?
Life is short, swim naked
25 IL76: I looked at the weather forecast... It's subject to change of course, but the coming 5 days they say we're getting Northern or North-Eastern winds...
26 Jwenting: you lived in this country for how long now and you STILL believe the weather forecasts of more than -1 days ahead?
28 AirKas1: Yeah, I figured you watched the weather forecast But how do you know which traffic will use what runway? It could well be the other way around, right?
29 Joge: The forecast for Sunday looks a bit better again. Jeroen: It's not only the Dutch TV which gives weather forecasts for Holland! -Joge Edit: Thanks to
30 Ebos: Joge, i don't have time this weekend to spend one day at AMS. Anyway, have fun over there. Sven
