Does anyone shoot with Fugifilm FinePix S2 Pro? Would S2 Pro users care to share and post a couple of their photos on here? Really intersted to see some of the image samples. How do you like the camera and its handling? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers - Jay

Jay,

I have been shooting with Fuji S2-pro for 9 months now. I find it a real great camera, perhaps a bit slow but quality is what I wanted not speed.

I always use Nikkor lenses all above shot with 80-400VR. All except 525994 with a poor tiffen UV protector filter also that added a blue tint (I have Nikon UV protector delivered today!!)

Cant really give much more or a review because I don't know the competition 300D, D100, etc. Just find the camera great value for money and have never disappointed.

Wow!!! The color dynamic of Fugifilm SCCD definately blows my mind. The image is very clean with great color rendition. I am wondering if you have to do a lot of post processing or apply few touch-up right out of the S2 Pro? Do you forsee any upgrade to S3 in the near future when it is released this summer?

Andy:

You seems to be doing a might fine job with your S1. Are you looking to move to S2 or S3 Pro? I continue to keep my eyes out for you photos with S# Pro in the future.

Keep S2 images coming!!!

Cheers - Jay

Jay,

Actually looking to move towards a D100 or D70. But I think that the D70 won't be ready for sale by the time I need to upgrade Big grin

So, D100 should be the choice.

And thanks for the nice comments, highly appreciated.

Andrew

Thanks for the compliment. I do little post image processing, change brightness/contrast resize and sharpen. The S2-pro does produce a clean low noise image so I can afford to use high ISO's. Some of my earlier submissions are fairly noisey but this was down to my post processing technique using the wrong sharpening settings is USM. I always shoot in JPEG as there seems to be little benefit when quality/number of shots per card is considered (of course RAW is best but highest JPEG is a good compromise).

when the news of S3-pro broke I thought must have... now I feel the S2-pro is good enough S3-pro wont make anyone a better photographer, experience will. I am excited with the wider dynamic range of S3-pro so I may consider if any faults or dead/hot pixels creep in over time. There are no deal/hot pixels in my S2 camera and coming from a CCTV (closed circuit television) background where every camera will have 10's of not 100's of dead/hot pixels and they are only 500 x 500ish pixels!!! not 3000 x 2000ish.

Thanks again for the compliment.

Stephen

I have had an S2 since August 02 and before that the S1 not thinking of moving to the S3 in a rush. Feature wise its not as big an improvement as the 2 was to 1 and were wait and see how well the sensor works....

I would be interested to look at some of your photos. Under what name can I search to be able to look the photos shot with S2 Pro?

Jay:

I've had the S2 since July 2002 and have taken about 11,000 photos with it. The vast majority haven't been processed yet due to lack of time but someday.... if I ever stop taking more photos to add to the backlog. I've added about 600 S2 photos to airliners.net and more to a competing site.

Like Paul, I'm in no rush to buy the S3 but if the price is right then maybe I'll consider it as my S2 warranty (double warranty with the AMEX card) will run out in July. I've been very happy with the S2, particularly with the larger images that it produces in comparison to the D100 and D60/10D.
