The 300D doesn't come with any memory cards unless you buy a package from a shop that includes one - certainly none in the standard box from Canon (at least not over here)
Each picture can vary in size, but Canon say that they are 3.1MB each at top 6MP JPEG resolution (not RAW), so you'd get about 165 pictures on a 512MB CF card. However the actual filesize varies according to the detail in the photo. I never find they get to 3.1MB and are often more around 2MB each (generally) - really depends what you are taking photos of and how much of the frame is filled.
I'd recommend you have at least 1GB worth of memory. 512MB would be an absolute minimum in my opinion, and if you are shooting RAW, then you'll need even more.

I don't get to the airport too often, and right now my only CF card is 256MB. I also shoot in Jpeg High, and it gets me about 80 pictures on the card. Right now it has one on it, a picture of the Tower at APA. Maybe I'll take it off at some point when I put more pictures on to make it worth the download.
