Is there any reason why we can't have a "Picture of the Year" or "Picture of the Month" as chosen by votes from a.net users? It seems that we need some way of recognizing excellence other than the number of hits recorded.

I agree. Maybe the winner gets a free T Shirt or something.

Well, to let them know that people really LOVE their shot, I think the A.net thong would be a bit more appropriate.
I can just imagine the face on my mom if one of those things were sitting on my doorstep! lol
Yeah, nifty idea. The most popular of the past 24/48, etc is prettymuch the same thing, though. Just open up the large version and your vote is cast!
Perhaps something where the top 15 (one page worth) of the past week are put up for an actual vote...if anything, that would probably be more 'entertaining'.

LY744: Well, I don't know about her. But, after telling my friends that I hang out every now and then with a group of guys in their 20s through 50s, even being picked up early in the morning by some, I don't think they would be surprised.

Futt...I'm never picking you up at 7am, or any other time for that matter, if you continue to wear an a.net thong. And now that I know you were sitting in the passenger seat wearing that thing, I've gotta have the seat thoroughly disinfected and cleaned.
A contest is a great idea, though. But, I do not agree that it should simply be limited to the pictures that had the top hits for any given period of time. I, for one, tend to find pictures long after they were uploaded. If I see a totally cool picture 6 months after it was uploaded, but I thought it was worth being nominated for some prize, I wouldn't want to lose my ability to vote simply because it didn't make the hit count in its first 24/48 hours. Also, while 12,456 other people may find a picture interesting, I may find it totally boring and would prefer to vote for the picture that got 3 hits, including 1 hit from me. Hard to see how this kind of thing would be implemented, though.
