Hi.

I'm a huge aviation freak, etc. etc. BUT ihave never actually gone spotting/photographing aircraft before. My question is: what type of camera do you use? I have a Sony Cybershot 5megapixels. Is this what you use? Do picture turn out ok with a normal digital camera? I'm asking all this as I'm going on a trip to Germany and Austria in August (ok, a long time to go, but I'm exited) and was hoping to get some time to spot at the airports I'll be visiting.

Thanks for any help you can give me

P.S keep up the great photos!!

I shoot in Shutter priority mode, S - in your camera on the wheel. Set the Shutter speed and exposure accordingly, and NEVER underexpose.

You might want to go check out your local airstrip and snap a few photos and play around with your camera before going on the trip.

Better to underexpose than overexpose  Big grin

Honestly I use Program mode a lot, never had a problem.

Dazed767 - maybe on your DSLR, the others who aren't as fortunate, have to deal with MASS grain.

If you underexpose, even on a bright and sunny day, you'll get a buttload of grain.

First thing you should do is...

Go to an airport, take some images and show us. Then we will be able to help you improving them.

I'm using a Canon 300D, so I don't know much about your camera but just go out and give her a try!

regards, Florian

I would absolutely love to go out the Indira Gandhi airport and snap a few pics, BUT isn't it against the law here in India to photograph planes in India or Indian airspace?

My F707, D30 and 300D, P mode worked/works great. Never had a grain issue.
