Hi,

Does anyone out there use the Fuji S2 Pro digital camera?
Is it a good camera? Are there any pitfalls in using it?

I have been using a Fuji S602 Zoom for a year and although I have been very impressed with close up shots landing shots etc have been of a generally poorer quality due to the limitations of the lens so I decided it was time to upgrade and I have been considering the S2 Pro.

I noticed some debates a couple of years ago when the camera came out but nothing more recent. I also notice that Don Boyd and a couple of others are still using their S2 Pro's in anger!!

All responses are welcome!!!

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Anthony

Anthony,

I have used the Fuji S2-pro for nearly one year, I have found that the images are low noise, high qulaity and good body construction. S2 has nikon F mount so most Nikons lenses can be used. I couple the 80-400 VR unit with mine most of the time.

Here are a few images taken with S2-pro and 80-400 VR

I've had mine since July 2002 and have had no problems whatsoever so I love it, especially for the larger image size it produces (4256 pixels wide by 2848 high). This allows for more cropping of sky on your shots and also allows for true 300dpi (not upsized resampling) 8x10 prints which you won't get out of competing cameras. Consumer Reports recently rated it higher than competitors and dpreview.com also graced it with a great review.

My primary lens is the 80-200mm Nikon f2.8 AF-D but I also use a 50mm from time to time.

The S2 is my camera of choice as well...I have owned the S1, S2, and eventually the S3, when it comes out. I have always preferred the Fuji image over any of the competitors.

My only gripes are the battery system (4 AAs + 2 CR123s) and overall speed. Otherwise, it is top-notch and IMO, better than any of the Nikon prosumer bodies.

The price will come down even more once the S3 comes out. But, who knows when that will be.  Smile

You gotta jump in sometime. I'm approaching 13,000 shots with my S2 and despite the price I'm glad I did it when it came out.

Besides, this is like the stocks I pick - buy high, sell low.
