Hmm - it is now showing 11:25 arrival.

Any idea which runway they'll use if the wind stays from the dead-east as it is now?

Currently, runways 34R, 35L + 35R are being used for arrivals. I would guess 35L. But it is going to suck with the sun being directly overhead.

dont worry Jeff, shitty sun doesn't seem to phase most of the "shooters" on this board.

Remember this beautiful light?

Too bad it's 0.25 mi visibility with 100 ft ceilings right now out at the airport. It will take a few hours for all of it to burn off. After that, the clouds will fill back in though.

Is the ATL-DEN route it's assigned route, or is it a substitution?

Oh wait, it's now 7 miles visibility with 700 ft ceilings...

Royal,
Indeed I do. I don't get that kind of light often enough. I cancelled my trip out to shoot that AirTran 737, the overcast is horrible, it would have been a complete waste of time.

maybe another day...

I wish more people would take the time to learn about lighting and use it to their advantage. I can see the occasional rare shot being done in tough light, but it really takes a good idea of post processing to make such photos worthwhile.

This time of year in Seattle I will only shoot from first real sunlight (about 6:45am) to about 9:30, and them from maybe 5pm until dark (around 8:30 is when it goes below 1/30). Not only is the light much nicer but the sky has such deep blues, I love that.

True Royal, but all my photo sales have come from people who don't care about the lighting, only the subject. So I will shoot during the day if something interesing is flying, and try to photograph around the hours you described.

Thats because you have had the good fortune of shooting unique subjects. If presented with a choice, it wouldn't be hard  Smile

Anyways I wasn't refering to your shots, I was thinking more about the AN124 in DEN thread.

Agreed, Royal. It's probably my biggest complaint when looking at a less-than-perfect photo. If the nose wheel door isn't lit by sunlight, it isn't perfect. Period.

We are definitely a minority on this website, though.

Guys, Looks like we're gonna be sending it out there a few times over the next few weeks before the real scheduled service starts on 01Jul.

Its actually on its way again now as 303/304. And will do that tomorrow as well.

Ok...this will be my second attempt of typing all this out... (internet died last time)

Here is the schedule for the next few weeks until the official first day of service for the 737.

June 17 - 20 ATL-DEN-ATL flights 303/304

June 21 - 26 ATL-MEM-ATL-DEN-ATL flights 1721/524 and 305/306

June 27 ATL-MEM-ATL-TPA-ATL flights 1721/524 and 137/138

June 28 ATL-MEM-ATL-DEN-ATL 1721/524 305/306

June 29 ATL-LAS-ATL flight 7/8

June 30 ATL-DEN-ATL-DEN flight 303/304/301 and from what I can see this will be the first time it doesnt spend the night in ATL or MCO.

July 1 start the scheduled flights on the 737 and the previous flights that had been 717 go back to 717.

Yea, I went up on tuesday and unforunately it came in on 34L. I was sitting just outside of the no parking zone next to 34R to try and have the sun on my side and the picture turned out like crap, especially with heat haze.
